I bought myself a Playstation 3 for my birthday last October and I kinda love it. It plays DVDs, Blu-ray discs*, video files from my computer, and MP3s. It can also access Netflix streaming movies and as a nice bonus I hear it also plays video games.
One thing does bother me about it. To access Netflix streaming the Playstation launches the Netflix app. When you’re done, you have to exit the app to get back to the main Playstation menu. However, every time you do this you get this screen:
Everytime I see it I want to yell at the screen, “I’m no quitter!! Quitting is for losers…but yes, I want to quit.” It feels so wrong to tell the TV I want to quit. I prefer to stick with things and achieve my goals if possible. I wish the screen said, “Do you want to exit?” because I exit buildings and highways all the time and have no problem exiting. Playstation programmers, if you are reading please fix this in the next release!
*Yes it’s “blu” not “blue.” I checked and this is what the Interwebs told me.
I saw your book at Barnes & Noble — how cool! I wanted to hold it up and dance around singing, “I know her!”
But then, I don’t really know you. I just read about your life all the time on your blog.
Anyway, I thought this would help soothe you after having to quit.
@Becky Brandon – I’m glad you saw the book at B&N!
Oh Jennette… your pre-emptive blue/blu line cracked me the hell up :)
“…as a nice bonus I hear it also plays video games.”
I laughed so hard when I read this. My husband would be absolutely mortified that you are ‘wasting’ a PS3 like that. He has been on and on at me to agree to buy one since about 10 minutes after his Xbox 360 came out of its box and got old. I just don’t get the appeal of all these games.
Thanks for the laugh!
Thanks for the giggles PQ :)
I wish you would get back to blogging about running and weight loss. I read your book the other day, the first one, and it was so inspiring. Your blog has become a place of advertisment and music. It’s a far cry from the inspirational motivating place it used to be. I just miss when the time long ago when your blog was more personal and really about you and your daily struggles and triumphs in life.
I loved the line about …it also plays games. I think of Spy Kids where one of the kids had this watch that did everything under the sun but it didn’t tell the time. Too funny! Glad to hear you’re not a quitter! :-)
Anon; It’s her blog, she can write about whatever she wants to write about. I find variety interesting personally.
Anon has a point. I mean, why should your blog deal with topics that are relevant to you? Don’t be so danged selfish, woman!
p.s. I originally mis-read this post title as “I’m no quilter.” Thought you were going to talk about crafts.
I purchased the book, in Sweden!! Which must make the whole transaction even more special, right? Haven’t started to read it yet though, I have a pile of books vying for my attention.
Maybe the blog was more interesting during the weight loss, but she’s lost the weight now and her attention is on other things. It’s a little difficult to fake it, just to satisfy the readers!
Anon…if you don’t like it, there’s no law that says you have to read Jennette’s personal blog. There are a shit ton of weight loss blogs out there if that’s what you want.
I’ve read your site for YEARS and bought your first book. Even if you choose not to write about weight loss any more, your posts have become more ads and reviews and giveaways than anything very meaningful.
You moved states! You are a budding entrepreneur! You must have some awesome things to write about that are more pertinent to the spirit of this blog.
It feels like you’re not very into it any more. I get it. Talking about yourself/your life can start to feel stupid and cumbersome. Especially if perhaps things aren’t that great in your life(just hypothesizing). But all good things must end; if you don’t want to do it any more just shut ‘er down and maybe be honest with us.
You don’t owe us anything really, but we also don’t owe anything to you if it feels like maintaining this beast is a chore and it’s obvious your hearts not in it any more.
@Anonymous people – It’s ok if you sign your actual names/online handles. I’m not going to delete you if you’re not malicious, and neither of your comments were.
Your statements would carry more weight with actual names assigned to them. My name is on everything I write on this blog. I’m accountable for it and I have to stand by it. If you believe what you say, you should back it up with a name. It doesn’t have to be your real name. A real email address would back it up even farther, and I’m the only one who sees that. (I promise I won’t subscribe you to kinky porn lists.)
@PastaQueen – I promise I won’t subscribe you to kinky porn lists.
Damn :(
I don’t have a handle here because I don’t often post. And I did give you my email address because it says I couldn’t post unless I did.
I agree. Quitting is for losers. You only lose or fail if you quit.
Oh my word… what happened to “IT’S MY BLOG I CAN/POST/DO WHAT I WANT TO” people are annoying, but this blog isn’t nor are your posts! Plus, I never knew that a playstation could do all that…
On the same sort of note, I always hated (really I still hate it because I still play) on The Sims, how it would say “Do you really wish to quit?” and your options were to click “Ok” or “Cancel”. Neither of these word choices answer the question being asked of me! I hated clicking “Ok” every single time…
