I really meant for there to be a few more entries posted between this one and the last giveaway so my blog wouldn’t start to resemble The Price is Right. But, uh, my head hurts and I had a lot of work to do, so I didn’t make it happen. If I start making y’all wear name tags and start saying “Come on down!” I give you permission to smack me.
This is the final Commit to Fit giveaway sponsored by Subway, and the one I kept putting off because it meant I’d have to make an actual commitment to fitness. Here’s the official blurb-age:
Have you decided what fitness commitment you’re going to make? Think about what your Commit to Fit Challenge is. It can be anything from running your first 5K to trying out a new class like tai chi or zumba. Let us know what it is and we’ll provide you with the funds (up to $100) to help you meet your challenge!
After reading all your suggestions on this post, I decided to just go with the obvious and try zumba. I enjoyed the TurboKick class I took a few years ago, so hopefully zumba will have the same fun atmosphere. I searched for a class on the official zumba page and found one locally. So, I’ll commit to doing that for 8 weeks and see how it goes. At the least, it’s an opportunity for me to get out of my apartment and be around other human beings, and not hibernate in front of my computer doing freelance work. Particularly now that it’s getting cooler, signing up for an indoor exercise class will hopefully keep me exercising through the winter.
If you’d like to enter for a chance to win up to $100 to put toward your own fitness goal, leave a comment on this entry with your favorite word that contains the letter “z.” (I already made you state your fitness challenges on this post, so I didn’t want to repeat.) You must be a US resident to enter. The contest ends at 11:59pm on Sunday, November 28, 2010. Winner will be drawn randomly.
BTW, the winner of the Laila Ali giveaway was Madeline from Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. Congrats, Madeline! Please don’t punch me with your prize.
Disclosure: All prizes listed in this post were provided for free.
Well, since I’m training for a half marathon my running shoes are getting a little worn. I’d take the $100 and buy a spiffy new pair.
Zebra
zootalow the chef said it in the little mermaid not sure if its an actual word or not
I didn’t comment my commit to fit challenge in the other post, but my commitment is to do a full marathon. I’ll be looking at a training schedule and then commit to it by signing up for one. The $100 could help with the registration fee or some running shoes.
Zounds- I’d spend the moolah on a TRX gizmo for my zippy exersize ( do misspellings count? ) room at home.
Swizzle, which happens to be a move in ice skating, which is what I’d like to do (take ice skating lessons). :-) Thanks!
I’m going with sizzle – not sure why. I need some new workout clothes!
Zippy! I’d like to take jujitsu lessons which sounds like it should have a Z in it :)
Pizzaz!
Pizza …does this mean my name is entered twice? ;)
Zealous! about losing 20 lbs! =)
Gyoza!
Jazz! :)
Zax … as in the Dr. Seuss story about a North-going Zax and a South-going Zax meeting in the Prairie of Prax.
Hm…”zygote” is the first word with a z that came to mind so I’m going to go with it.
Pizza!
And I would use the $100 for Bikram yoga classes. I love it but am too cheap to go regularly.
zip-a-dee-doo-dah is my fave1 I’d use the prize to try a a TRX class!
I would love to have a “z” word that has something to do with exercise, but pizza is my favorite today as well. :)
Zenith.
Hm, after seeing the word pizza posted here…I think I’ll have to go with that, haha.
zippy, which is what I would be with new running gear.
Ahh…that would be Maizey (my niece). I didn’t commit in the earlier thread either. I would use the 100.00 to purchase new walking shoes….so I can “step up” the walking!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
My favorite “z” word is….zesty! Good luck with Zumba – looking forward to your thoughts on it. :)
Fizzle!
I love the word “Huzzah!” Plus it just sounds like something ridiculous I’d say.
My fitness goal is to do a bike race this year. I’m also going to try the new WW program as I still have about 15 lbs to lose (again). Plus it’s a BIG birthday year (well, it’s a 5 year, not a zero year) so I figured I’d better get serious.
zapata.
I hope it was okay to use a Spanish word with Z. If I remember my high school Spanish, zapata is shoe. For some reason, I always thought that was a cool way to say shoe.
Zoinks! Yes, I am a Scooby Doo fan. My sister loves Zumba and has been going for quite a while. I think you’ll enjoy it. I would probably use the money to take more swing dancing lessons. I didn’t take any this semester and I’m missing them.
Zero. Not thrilling, but very useful…
Zydeco!
Zen :)
Zanzibar. It would take a lot more than $100 to get there, but maybe my fitness goal could be to run that many miles.
Zaftig!
This is awesome, thanks for the chance!
My favorite Z word is BEDAZZLE! As in, let me bedazzle you with my awesome Zumba moves! Ok, maybe not.
I didn’t comment on the other post, but my Commit to Fit goal is to continue with my CrossFit classes. It’s hard work, but I am loving it!
Is SHAZBAT a real word? I just named my new cat that, so I’m going for it. But just in case, I like ZENITH, too. Not like the TV, but like the peak, the top!
Laissez-faire.
Zoom – because I like to zoom around!
Hope you enjoy your class PQ! Zumba is like many things in life, you may have to try a few before you find one that you like. Some classes can be really lame with rather uninspiring instructors, but when you find one that is energetic and a groovy dancer, it can be fun fun fun. Happy thanksgiving :)
Zing!
I had others, but someone else chose them and I wanted to be different…
I’m going to do a “dance party” class every week until the end of the year . . . even if I look like a total SPAZZ doing it!
ZAP goes the lbs i will hopefully be dropping :) with the $100 to take a class that gets me off my behind!
Zebra – nothing better than a horse in pajamas!
Although my dogs would prefer Zukes – a wonderful little dog treat.
Zoo!
Dateline – Thanksgiving Day – Read Pasta Queen for a wee bit of inspiration before the big meal. A postprandial walk is on the agenda. My favorite word today is Zeno – my grandfather’s name. Very thankful for all of the good thoughts shared on Pasta Queen.
If I win the $100 I will buy new walking shoes. I need them as I have done 1 half-marathon, 2 10Ks and 12 5ks this year – all good for my mind and body.
The Grateful Nondead Mary
Zoom. I signed up for couch to 5k as learnt about it from your blog and now signed up for first race in January gulp. I’d use the funds for a massage after the race. Think I’ll need it
Rockclimbing. And my favorite Z word is zoo, actually.
In 2005 I lost 65 lbs and was looking/feeling great. In 2008 I lost my job and life spiraled out of control. Needless to say the weight all came back PLUS :( I’m hoping that the economy picks back up and I can be gainfully employed soon again. Before I can interview I want to look/feel good and have the confidence that matches my fabulous skills. What I would do with the winnings is join WW … they helped me before and I know they can again.
I want to “SIZZLE” again!!
Zanzibarbarian! (from Muppet Treasure Island)
Zing!
Zumba was a blast. I stop going because it got repetitive. I don’t think the instructor knew but a few moves and would change it up a little here and there, but it was too little for my taste. But, the workout was fun and the time flew. I didn’t realize I was exhausted until it was over. Best of luck to you!
You’ll never realize how much your writing encourages me. You are fun and witty!
I want to play with the Zimbelstern.
Bedazzle, as in: if I take the Latin Ballroom Dancesport class I have my eye on, may I bedazzle my costume??
I personally enjoy and embody “zaftig,” I’m working on making a new word mine… like sizzle
Zener!
Wore out my running shoes over the summer, so new ones will help keep me motivated for next year.
“Zenith” its my favorite word. I like the way it sounds and what it means. Zenith is my limit.
Zephyr- because it reminds me a of a GREAT red hot chili peppers song, and a REALLY embarrassing , but funny night. (If I win, I might be persuaded to share it with you) But I just googled what Zephyr is and found that it is fitting for my current fitness goal, or pursuit.
Zephyr was the gentle wind of the west in greek mythology, that it would be awesome if I was strong enough to gently blow something over. :) But since I started taking yoga classes I think that it is a fitting word for the form of exercise I’ve just started. Keep smiling!
zebra
Good luck with Zumba- it looks like fun
Pizazz. And lots of it.
Puzzles – I love doing many kinds of puzzles.
Well, I’ll probably have my identity stolen now, but my favorite z word is no longer valid because of the Euro–it’s German for 10 pennies and my name: Zehnpfennig
Jazzy, because it is just fun to say!
I really like the word “zest”.
Snazzy. As in, if I won $100, I’d buy some snazzy new running shoes. I sort of gave up on my running goal for this year, but I’ve put a lot of walking miles on the snazzy running shoes I bought last year.
You’ll love Zumba, just don’t stop for chips and salsa and margaritas on the way home. ;)
Zither
Zeitgeist. I try to use it in conversation as often as I can.
I think I would use the $100 for workout videos; maybe Zumba maybe Walking Off the Pounds.
Realization! And I’d like to try ballet lessons! :)
Pizazz!!
Zoo. We like to go in the summer.
My word has only become a favorite in the last year or so, but it has to be…
BAZINGA!
And I’d buy new tennies to kick start my walking program again.
Zen… I’d like to find a yoga class in DC and be zen!
Piazza–preferably a piazza with a church whose bell tower I can climb. I was too overweight and out of shape to climb anything on previous trips to Europe, but am counting on climbing at least a couple towers when I’m there for Christmas this year. I’m so excited to be getting a chance to go back and to do all the things I couldn’t do before.
Zaire! Or maybe Zimbabwe. Thanks for the contest Jennette!
Bonanza!
Zanadu…now that song is going to be stuck in my head. I’d love some new shoes to get me out walking :)
Marzipan, something I should definitely steer clear of to meet my fitness goals!
Pizza!!!! This is also the reason I need workout clothes and a Subway card!!!
The only Z word I can think of at the moment – Zit.
Zephyr, of course.
weezie….my name and my word since it has a z in it, friends know me simply as wz….i shall dance for fitness and grace….sweating my prayers in the style of gabrielle roth’s 5 rhythms….the cash would enable me to commit to attending the 8 week local intensive workshop
Zippy-
We have a Wii, and not enough space for a bike or treadmill…so I’d love to get Wii Fit Plus and start trying that as a change of pace to videos, and as a solution when it’s freezing out and doing anything outside is really hard.
ooze :)
Does I can haz chezburger count?!
Zap! I would love to zap this weight gone. I know that won’t work so I would use the money to buy new walking shoes so I can walk it off.
Zoiks!
Zinc! It’s what i will put on by nose with my new beach body after having my fitness sponsored.
My winter running outfit could use some zing… I would buy some cold gear with an extra $100.
Fuzzle. (a pet name for my cat).
I’m going with ZAZZLE! I should totally win- that’s THREE zs! Thanks for hosting Jeanette!
Zebidee!
And I’d use the $100 to join a Zumba class.
My work will have to be Zippy-do-da. I think I am going to try a pilates class.
