In the spirit of giving away other people’s loot, it’s time for another Subway Commit to Fit giveaway. As I mentioned before, the Commit to Fit program is encouraging people to set their own fitness goals, like Jared Fogle aka Jared the Subway Guy who is training for the New York City Marathon. This time around, they’re giving away a green iPod shuffle and a $10 iTunes gift card. (For the tech geeks among us, this is the 4th generation 2BG iPod shuffle.)
There is no doubt a good playlist can help you keep moving. When I ran a half-marathon, it was only a dance remix of Bryan Adams singing “Run to You” that got me through mile 10. Here are some of the songs I’ve been listening to on my walks recently. Links go to YouTube or iLike, and occasionally feature an anime fan video:
Catie Curtis – You Can Always Be Gone
Justice – D.A.N.C.E. (Not only a catchy song, but a good review of spelling.)
Seasun – Delorean
The Veils – Sit Down by the Fire
Carbon Leaf – The Boxer
Ahmet and Dweezil Zappa – Hit Me Baby One More Time
Glasvegas – Geraldine (Best song about a social worker that I’ve ever heard.)
Shout Out Louds – Tonight I Have to Leave it
Florence + the Machine – Dog Days are Over
This giveaway is open to residents of the United States only. To enter, leave a comment below listing one of your favorite songs to work out to. Disclosure: The prizes listed in this post were provided for free.
Hands Down I am loving Florence + The Machine right now! I have been know to put The Dog Days are Over on Repeat!!
No favorite song because I don’t have an MP3 player. So maybe I will win one….
It’s an oldie but a goodie, “Barbie Girl”. It’s funny, and it peppy, and it makes me feel just silly enough to prance along the train.
Every time the song “So Says I” by The Shins plays in my mix, I get a little more bounce in my step.
Journey’s Be Good To Yourself if my favorite workout song!
Utada Hikaru- Tippy Toe
Fat Bottomed Girls by Queen!!
I’m kinda embarrassed to admit it but my current “power workout song” is I Gotta Feeling by the Blackeyed Peas.
Did I really just say that out loud? =P
I love to work out to the Black Eyed Peas!
A little embarrassed to admit it, but I love to work out to Toxic by Britney Spears
My all time favourite has to be: ACDC – “if you want blood”, but I also love, Katy Perry (remix with snoop) California Gurls, Eminem “lose yourself” and Britney Spears “Toy Soldier”
Ya, I have odd taste in work out music… :)
Haha, this is embarassing, but I currently enjoy working out to Timbaland + Justin Timberlake’s “Carryout.”
Pump It by the Black Eyed Peas! My absolute FAVORITE workout song!
Going the Distance by CAKE! or any song by Pink
Also (guilty pleasure) Good Vibrations by Marky Mark. Actually, that’s my real favorite workout song – Pump It is #2.
I love “Where the Streets Have No Name” by U2 because the song kind of starts out of nothing and builds so it gives me more energy as it goes on, and has a good beat for running (outside or on a treadmill/elliptical).
My absolute favorite songs to work-out to are ‘Apache’ and ‘Rapper’s Delight’ by the Sugar Hill Gang. They make me want to put on roller skates and roller skate on the treadmill. I always start out with one of those two songs to get me in the mood…of course, if I am watching ‘Hoarders’ while on the treadmill, I wait until it is over to listen to my songs. Nothing like watching a good episode of ‘Hoarders’ while walking on the treadmill.
I Gotta Feeling – Black Eyed Peas
I’m slightly embarrassed to admit it but: Tik Tok by Kesha gets me moving every time.
I have so many favorite workout songs but my all time I-listen-to-this-just-as-I’m-finishing-and-it-makes-me-happy is Feel Good Inc by the Gorillaz.
“Get on Your Feet” by Gloria Estefan. Great beat, lots of energy, and a good message.
I like to listen to Run This Town by Rhianna and Jay-z when I need some extra pep in my step.
My all time favorite workout song is old school: Gloria Gaynor’s I Will Survive. Gets me going and keeps me moving!
I listen to a lot of hip hop, urban and top 40. It’s fast-paced music and that gets me going. Ke$ha, Rhianna, Nelly, Usher, etc.
Anything on Eminem’s new “Recovery” album… especially “Not Afraid”!
Seriously anything by eminem. It has an angry beat that always gets me to move my bum. I know, Eminem. Sad.
When I go walking I love listening to the podcasts “Stuff You Missed in History Class” and “Stuff Mom Never Told You.” The four women hosting the podcasts are hilarious *and* educational.
love “this must be the place” by the talking heads – the steady beat gets me moving!
This is going to sound random but “Paradise by the dashboard light” by Meatload…Yup, it gets me going every time :)
Hands down — STRONGER by Kanye West! Pushes me to keep going despite all the haters! Ok, there really are no haters, it’s just me laziness — but still! — Kanye keeps me going.
I know it’s totally dirty, but I love the Black Eyed Peas, “My Humps” for running. It’s addictive!
None other than Eye of the Tiger-when you have to push for the last stretch of your run…nothing makes me push harder than this song
I love to work out with any of Kumbia Kings songs. They have a great beat.
These songs really get me energized for a workout: Gin Blossoms – Jealousy
Rob Thomas – This is how a heart breaks
Melissa Lawson – What if it all goes right This one is my favorite, it is filled with motivation.
Supergirl by Saving Jane
I have three:
“You Just Haven’t Earned It Yet, Baby” – The Smiths
‘Mr. Brightside” – The Killers
“Big Girl, You Are Beautiful” – Mika
Embarrassing mentions:
“Womanizer” and “Toxic” – Britney Spears
how badly will i date myself if i confess i work-out to the soundtrack to “saturday night fever”?
I like to listen to the Amelie soundtrack, it might sound weird at first, but it’s great to run to!!
Anything by the Dropkick Murpheys. It pretty much keeps me going even when I want to quit.
I love Uprising by Muse! Great beat!
sugarland’s “it Happens”
Matchbox 20 – How far we’ve come!! When this song comes on the radio, even if you are driving, you can’t help but think of running.
“No Getting Over You” by David Guerra (Guetta?) and Fergie.
Party, party, party, puh & puh & party…lol
I’ve been wanting to get an iPOD but I’m too cheap. Top of my list would definitely be Fat Bottom Girls by Queen, then anything by the Black Eyed Peas, more Queen, and classic Mellencamp.
Get on your bikes and ride!
Take it off by The Donnas
I love Carbonleaf!
My Ipod is such an old random mix, but I really get pumped to Reach (if I can reach higher) by Gloria Estefan. So dorky but it works!
I like listening to carryout. thanks!
Right now, I’m obsessed with KASKADE’s “DYNASTY” cd, and I can’t help dancing when FIRE IN YOUR NEW SHOES comes on. I had my trainer upload all my KASKADE cds on rotation at the Pilates studio for when I workout. This is my current “move it” fave song…”and the leg bone’s connected to the one in the thigh”. :D
Shakira’s Hips don’t lie! That or any of Queen!
Beck’s Time Bomb
Definitely pretty much anything by Eminem. “Rabbit Run” is a personal fave. Also, “What’s Your Fantasy” by Ludacris. I like my workout playlists fast, loud, and vulgar lol!
I love to listen to Life is Beautiful by Sixx AM for some reason. Maybe inspiration?
I love working out to Fergie!
So What by P!nk. =)
Feel Good Inc. by the Gorillaz got me up the bridge during last year’s bridge run. I live in a coastal community, so we don’t have hills, we have bridges! I thought I wasn’t going to make it until that song came on, and I just put it on repeat until I made it to the top!
I am increasing my time on the treadmill, 1 minute more each workout day. (Workouts are currently 3 days per week.) I am also intermittently increasing the incline to build better endurance.
Just about anything by Green Day and Sweet Child of Mine by Guns and Roses. Gotta agree with a couple of others, Fat Bottom Girls by Queen totally rocks!
Everything Black Eyed Peas works for me.
Starstrukk by 3OH!3 (feat. Katy Perry) is a great workout song!
Bamboo Banga – M.I.A
Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith. It’s so long that the time flies by.
One of my favorite workout songs is Rompe by Daddy Yankee, it really gets me moving if I am struggle or it just gives me another burst of energy throughout my workout.
When I work out I like creating different workout mixes so I don’t get bored. My absolute favorite song is the Eye of the Tiger by Survivor. Other artists that I like to throw in the mix are:
Sweat Dreams by Beyonce
Hard by Rihanna
Gold Digger by Kanye West
La Bamba by Richie Valens
Why do fools fall in love by Frankie Lymon
I like to have a lot of different mixes so I will stay motivated to keep moving.
My playlist has Ricky Martin’s “Cup of Life.” Sometimes I sing along and get weird looks.
Best workout song of all time? Build Me Up, Buttercup. I don’t know why, but it works.
I love Blondie’s “Call Me” cause it takes me back to 6th grade when I could always run like the wind!!
I’m more of a podcast girl. I started with Jillian Michaels’s radio show. Now it’s Two Fit Chicks and a Microphone, Radiolab, or This American Life.
Since High School Cross Country, My Sharona by the Knack.
I think all good workout songs are a little embarrassing! My own personal guilty pleasure is Meatloaf – “Bat Out of Hell”.
I’m pretty sure I’m a total dork when it comes to my workout playlist, but I refuse to apologize for this. My playlist is full of peppy songs from the Glee soundtrack and a slew of ridiculously cheesy 80’s music (think “Eye of the Tiger”, Whitney’s “I wanna dance with somebody”, “Girl’s Just Wanna Have Fun”, “Hey Mickey”, etc). Ironically, I would never choose to listen to these songs in my normal day to day, but they are my absolute fav when I’m running or on the elliptical. They make me smile.
Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey :)
I like to listen to Bad Things by Jace Everett, it help keep me moving.
Super cheesy, but I like Eye of the Tiger! Reminds me of roller skating parties in grade school!
I *love* running to Pain Killer by the Turin Brakes. Always a boost when I need it!
For some reason Testify by Rage Against the Machine can make any eliptical workout awesome!
There are SO many good songs to workout to – I really like What if it All Goes Right? by Melissa Lawson – it was used during some of the Summer Olympic promos a couple of years ago…
What’s on my (dying) iPod? “Addicted to Love and “Some Like it Hot” by Robert Palmer; “Your Sister Can’t Twist” from Elton John; “Why Part 2” from Collective Soul. I like the Black Eyed Peas but haven’t put it on the thing yet. I also see some new stuff in the comments that I need to listen to…
LOL. This is fun. I would have to say Eye of the Tiger. Not sure why, but just gets me moving!
I love listening to Passion Pit when I work out. Upbeat and catchy! Thanks for the giveaway :)
Warmup song, “Five Fathoms” by Everything But the Girl. Workout song, “Accidentally In Love” by the Counting Crows!
The funny things running does to you – I listen to such utter crap that I would normally be embarrassed to cop to it – but, here goes:
Run the Show – Kat DeLuna
Disturbia – Rhianna
Everywhere – cheesy workout remix
Ugh – so sad, but it keeps me moving.
Oooh, awesome give away. For sure, number one fave running song is the remixed version of A Little Less Conversation by Mr. Elvis Presley.
Anything by Journey or Justin Timberlake usually works for me.
I Got a Feeling (Black Eyed Peas) and The Middle (Jimmy Eat World). On my daughter’s ipod – as mine crashed and burned. A new one would be lovely!
I’m with Sarah and like to listen to cheesy 80’s music while working out. Although I won’t admit it in certain company, I love working out to Disco even though I’ve got a Rock and Roll heart. I love all the classic hits but songs like “Brick House” and newer stuff like Christina’s “Fighter” get me in the mood to kick it up a notch.
Without a doubt- Boom Boom Pow by Black Eyed Peas
I’m a bit horrified to admit this:
Lady GaGa – Just Dance
U2, Beautiful Day
anything by Lady Gaga!
My workout song is Olivia Newton John- Let’s get physical.. The title alone make you wanna move..
“Party in the U.S.A.” by Miley Cyrus. Don’t judge me.
“Fighter” by Christina because when I get really defiant, I keep going rather than giving up.
you can do it by ice cube-i just youtubed it (is that a word?) and i didnt realize how many bad words were in there, i have the edited one. haha.
How can you forget the classic? Physical by Olivia Newton John!
“My God is Real” by Krishna Das — that’s for a yoga workout.
The Chemical Brothers- Do it Again and Galvanize are my current favorites.
Come Together by Third Day :)
I like to listen to Matthew Nathanson “Come On Get Higher” and Jesse McCartney’s “Leavin'”. A new song I have heard recently at the gym that I like is “Just the Way You Are” by Bruno Mars.
Mother’s Little Helper by the Rolling Stones
My favorite “get me pumped” song (and I don’t know why) are “Addicted to Love by Robert Palmer” and “Simply Irresistible by Robert Palmer.” Simply Irresistible is my favorite of the two. “She used to look good to me but now I find her.. .. .. .. SIMPLE IRRESISTIBLE..” Awesome song.
I could use an iPod for my lame 80’s music!
Girl Talk’s “Here’s the Thing” is perfect for my short attention span — it changes frequently enough to keep it interesting but at the same time is all songs that are super familiar and upbeat.
David Crowder Band, Here is our King
I really like Suddenly I See and Black Horse And The Cherry Tree by KT Tunstall
…and also Sexyback by Justin Timberlake because I’m always thinking about how what’s behind me must be jiggling around like mad but no worries – Justin likes it!
Awesome song – Fallulah’s “I Lay My Head.”
As a punk fan it shames me to admit that the song that gets me through the last mile on my run is “Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy” by Big & Rich.
Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen! Gets me GOING!
I’ve been listening to a lot of my daughter’s Katy Perry songs. They get me moving.
Bandstand Boogie by Barry Manilow (I know, I’m embarrassed) – it has such a happy peppy beat that it makes me run lighter!
Well, right now it is “Sandstorm” by Darude. Very upbeat.
Brandi, I have “Rompe” on my ipod as well. :)
And thanks, PQ for doing this, bc I will look in to a few of these song titles. Could use some new ones.
Steelers6
Spice Girls – Spice World. Oh yeah!
Remedy by Little Boots!
Let’s see, I love to workout to ELO’s “Secret Messages”, Shakira’s “Te Dejo Madrid”, Gloria Esteban’s “Don’t Let This Moment End”, and Golden Earring’s “Twilight Zone”, just to name a few. Good luck to everyone! =^..^=
Big Girl You are Beautiful by Mika gets me moving!
Any Michael Jackson song gets me moving when I need it. Man in the Mirror helped me today on my run.
Get the Party Started by Pink. Gets me going every time.
My favorite get my butt in gear song is Tempus Fugit Mix by Bananarama. It is a compilation of all of their greatest hits.
Bad Romance by Lady Gaga
Right now I like “Raise Your Glass” by Pink.
Black Eyed Peas, The Ting Tings, and shhhh Brittney Spears. :)
There is no shame in loving Britney Spears for workout songs! :) I’m also a fan of P!nk and (for the ultimate boost) “Holding Out for a Hero” by Bonnie Tyler. Always makes me think of Jennifer Saunders singing it in “Shrek”. :)
I like Jai Ho by the PussyCat Dolls.
Gotta be….
“No More Drama” – Mary J Blige
Marc Broussard ~ Home…helped me finish a race or two…love the beat!
I LOOOVE TO WO TO HIP HOP/POP MUSIC.. WHAT CAN I SAY, I HAVE A TEENAGER. FAVORITE SONG IS APPLE BOTTOM JEANS
50 Cent “In Da Club”. Seriously.
I love to listen to Chris Brown’s Forever…reminds me of my partner and my goals!
if you like justice, i really think that you will like girl talk. seriously, not one mix is downbeat, and they make you want to kick your treadmill’s ass!
also, justice d.a.n.c.e is totally all about michael jackson.
Changes all the time, but this week my favorite is Dontcha by the Pussy Cat Dolls.
BOOM BOOM POW!
Lately I’m loving Ghosts n’ Stuff by Deadmau5 and Like a G6 by Far East Movement.
Do podcasts of “Wait Wait, Don’t Tell Me” count as a song? They play songs sometimes, and I know they had “They Might Be Giants” as guests once. Yes, it counts; I’ve decided.
Guns and Roses- Patience.
Toss up between the theme from Rocky and my latest download: Club Can’t Handle me (Flo Rida)
Shout out to Cellabella for listing the Amelie soundtrack! I couldn’t agree more! I like upbeat music for gym workouts (Scissor Sisters’ Filthy/Gorgeous comes to mind), but when I walk I need music that’s more inclined to turn my mind inward, as it helps keep me in my zone.
Bad Romance- lady Gaga
Truth? I love working out to Kelly Clarkson — fun, upbeat and usually with some “I’m too good for this” theme. “Since You Been Gone,” “My Life Would Suck Without You,” etc.
right now my favorite workout song is “the bad touch” by the bloodhound gang.
Oasis’ The Shock of the Lightning
I don’t have a good way to listen to music when I work out, so I am hoping I will win this. Than I can figure out a favorite work out song.
“Sarafina” from the soundtrack to the motion picture “Sarafina”… Gotta love it!
I am VERY embarrassed to admit it…but I am a 34 year old female and LOVE listening to 3OH!3…The songs are very inappropriate for the most part…but dang they have a good beat! …and I feel very aggressive while on the treadmill! lol…
Because I Can by Fat Boy Slim
currently Lady GaGa Just Dance….I have no clue why lol
Misery by Maroon 5 – upbeat yet tells it like it is!
Bizarre Love Triangle (Shep’s Extended Dance Mix) by New Order
to warm up: anyone’s ghost by the nationals
Anything by Pink. I heart her music.
“I Gotta Feeling” black eyed peas
and
theme song to Foot Loose
and
theme song to Hawaii Five-0.
Is that the strangest combination you have had yet?
I like ‘Wango Tango’ by Ted Nugent. Just don’t try to do a sprint to this song – it’s long!
Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary”
I absolutely love working out to “Poker Face”…the beat is the perfect rhythm for my jogging and elliptical workouts!
Too funny. I just did a post on my current workout faves. Here they are!

“River Deep, Mountain High” (Glee Cast Version) Glee Cast
“Power” Kanye West
“Only Girl (In the World)” Rihanna

“Hot Tottie” (feat. Jay-Z) Usher
“U.R.A. Fever” The Kills
“Crossfire” Brandon Flowers
“Just the Way You Are” Bruno Mars
“Somebody to Love” Usher
My best “running” (in quotes because it’s more of a slow jog) song is Eminem’s Lose Yourself. It’s the right beat and hard hitting enough to make me drive through.
I cannot NOT move to OutKast’s “Hey Ya!” I especially love it for running – it puts a spring in my step!
I’ve got a bit more punk in me, so my favorite is Try Honesty by Billy Talent. I can’t help but just start sprinting when I hear it.
C & C Music Factory– Gonna Make You Sweat (I think of it as “Everybody Dance Now”) Holy 90s!
How about I Believe in a Thing Called Loved by The Darkness?! It’s so ridiculous, but it gets you moving!
My favorite to work out to anything with a beat. It can be Linkin Park, Metallica, Eminem or even some faster country songs. As long as it keeps me moving I am good to go!
“A Good Man Is Easy to Kill”-Beulah
Eminem: Lose Yourself
Well, definitely “Bicycle Race” by Queen!
Sheryl Crow, Soak up the Sun!
I listen to an embarrasing mix of music including Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. I know, but try to be unmotivated when listening to “Dirty”, it’s impossible. :)
This would get me through any workout, no matter how tough:
I Gotta Feeling (Black Eyed Peas)
I’m Still Standing (Elton John)
Merry Happy (Kate Nash)
Just Dance (Lady Gaga & Colby O’Donis)
Party in the USA (Miley Cyrus)
Teenagers (My Chemical Romance)
Fire Burning (Sean Kingston)
There is just something about Van Halen’s “Jump” to get me going!
I love “Cooler Than Me” by Mike Posner!!
Anything that makes me want to dance or tap my feet will always motivate me to workout or push myself further. Plus, I have a weakness for 90s teeny bop songs.
Duh, “The Final Countdown’. That’s always the last one on my list.
The Ramones version of “It’s a Wonderful World.”
Black Eyed Peas & Pink are both great…I love Boom Boom Pow…but anything with a beat keeps me moving.
underworld’s “jumbo” haha.
Anything by Lady Gaga – I think she’s awesome.
I love “Winter Winds” by Mumford and Sons.
I love running to Black Eyed Peas and the Cars. For spin class I need angry music, like Korn.
Eminem – Lose Yourself
An oldie but I love it to start a workout. (And my 11-year-old just adopted my shuffle.)
Sure could use something like music to help get me moving—-probably won’t be a marathon (or even 1/2 of one) but even something to help me walk would be great.
Has to be Beyonce and “All The Single Ladies”.
Vertigo by U2
two of my all-time favorites are an Iron Maiden mash-up/remix, “Maiden Goes To Bollywood,” and also Harry Bellafonte’s “Work Senora.”
Aaaand maybe some Final Fantasy game music, too.
currently, Dynamite, by Taio Cruz (yes, I probably spelled his name wrong), and I like it, by Enrique Igleses (probably spelled his name wrong too).
I love working out to “Ready to Run” by the Dixie Chicks. Can’t help it!
I am 30 years old and proud to say I totally sing while working out to “Spice Up Your Life” by, you guessed it, The Spice Girls!!
My most fave running song is “Footloose”. Gotta love the 80’s!
I love to work out to Britney Spears and Keisha, although I think that is admitting I’m terminally uncool. But they have a good beat!
My Life Would Suck without you….
Kelly Clarkson
“Satisfaction” by the Stones – gotta love it!
Being a huge Eagles fan I love “Already Gone” but “Get Over It” is a close 2nd.
Hurt so good by John Mellencamp. Describes my pain from working out.
Knockin on Heaven’s Door by Guns and Roses. Cause I am sure these workouts are gonna kill me one of these days.
I’m twenty years past my heavy metal stage, but Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” is a good workout song.
R-E-S-P-E-C-T Aretha Franklin. It’s an oldie but must be working, I lost ten pounds this year.
Sock it to em JB by the Specials. Absolute best rowing song ever.
Lately I like to work out to Senkou by Tomiko Van, Kataomoi by Emi Hinouchi, and anything from Hikaru Utada and Negative.
Right now, I am in love with Enrique’s song “Baby, I like it!”. But, I am also a fan of anything hip/hop: Black Eyed Peas, Kesha, Miley Sirus latest song, “Don’t Change Me”-love it! Anything with a fast beat!
I Gotta Feeling, Black Eyed Peas
Bryan Adams singing Run to You.
Any of Pink’s more upbeat songs.
Choctaw Bingo by James McMurtry
I kissed a girl, makes me laugh every time.
I have this Shakira CD my SIL got in Miami, it is entirely in Spanish, which I hardly understand, but so upbeat. I LOVE IT!!!
Thanks for the giveaway! I like to work out to old disco music, my faves include Evelyn King-shame, Donna- She works hard for the money.
mostly I listen to music from the 80’s and 90s, but lately a little Lady Gaga has made its way into the mix.
“Going the distance” by Cake
I love Animal by Neon Trees!
No favorite song as I don’t have an MP3 player but i’d love to start. I’d put one of Mercedes Sosa’s songs on.
any Elvis dancy stuff
Well, let’s see…. I have quite a list of running songs. But right now, these are at the top….
So What by Pink
Hey Ya by Outkast
Boom Boom Pow by Black Eyed Peas
I like to work out to anything Techno! That’s all they played in my college gym and now that music just screams WORK OUT to me. :-)
It may seem childish, but I like walking to the “Lion King” soundtrack.
It’s raining men by the weather girls. It is embarrassing but you can’t not listen to that song without moving and laughing. That is followed by anything by Robert Palmer – with or without Power Station.
My last run was:
Miley Cyrus: Who Owns My Heart
Jay Z: Hottie Tottie
Shakira: Waka Waka
And then that super annoying Like A G6 song. I can’t help it. I love it.
I like walking to anything by the Beach Boys or Queen.
By far, my favorite favorite workout song is Mighty Mighty Bosstones “Rascal King”. It’s got a really driving beat, the horns are peppy, the lyrics are encouraging and it usually comes on about 2/3 of the way through a 5k and pushes me through to the end of the run. I misplaced my wee first gen ipod nano at some point during the move to our new house. Now I have to deal with the angry rap/metal played at the gym. Not so encouraging really.
I Gotta Feeling by Black Eyed Peas. It’s overly peppy. But it works.
Satisfaction by Benny Benassi has a great beat!
tweeter and the monkey man – the traveling wilburys
I usually listen to something by the Kaiser Chiefs or the Bravery…moody slightly pretentious rock with a really good rhythm.
I love working out to “Stronger” by Kanye West. It reminds me that “that don’t kill me only makes me stronger.” Sometimes I need that reminder!
Because I was a teenager in the 70s, I have a love for disco and the strong beat is great for working out . . . I thought one of those would be my favorite, but once I thought about it, the best workout song on my playlist is Lady Gaga’s Pokerface! *gag*, don’t tell my husband! He calls her Lady Gag-gag.
Anything upbeat, that stadium rock stuff so I can picture myself all victorious.
Next To You by Buckcherry
SexyBack – JT!
Stay With You – Goo Goo Dolls!
I use Diesel Power as my power song by The Prodigy.
Not ready to make nice – Dixie Chicks
Sabotoge – Beastie Boys
And I forget the name of the song – Shake it like a polaroid picture… hahaha
All have good beats for running! :o)
Pat Benatar “Hit Me With Your Best Shot”
The song that gets me moving a bit faster is Santana (featuring Chad Kroeger) “Into the Night”. The beat helps you pick up the pace!
I listen to podcast from public radio; especially This American Life.
Oooh, great giveaway, thanks for sharing! I like Christina Aguilera’s ‘Dirty’. I laugh every time I get to the part in the lyrics where it says ‘Too dirty to clean my act up’ because my husband used to think it said ‘Too dirty to clean my attic’.
Its old school but I love the bass line of Thunder Kiss 65 by white zombie, when I start off a treadmill session I like to use it to get started
Whip it does it for me everytime, also Billie Jean or smooth Criminal. Music just gets you moving no matter what kind it is.
“Lets Get It Started” by the Black Eyed Peas is on every one of my workout playlists.
100% How Far We’ve Come by Matchbox 20 – this song is incredibly upbeat and hearing “let’s see how far we’ve come” can only bring inspiration when dealing with a tough workout :)
“hello operator” by the White Stripes
I listen to it after I’m warmed up and hit the windy stretch near the river.
I’m gonna go with an oldie but a goodie: “Its Raining Men” is currently on my mix and the humor, the absurdity and the beat gets me going.
Even with it’s explicit language, the Womanizer remix featuring Busta Rhymes gets my booty running faster on the treadmill!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbm2dbIFlv0
I have a remix of Radar/Bulletproof (Britney/Le Roux) that I just lost. I can listed to the song over and over.
I’ve never had an Ipod, but my favorite song to hear come on while I am on the treadmill is: Collective Soul – Precious Declaration. Something about that song just makes me want to keep going.
I like to put the Rocky theme at the end of my workout mix. When I feel like quitting, good ole Rocky will keep me going.
Old school and silly…”I’m Too Sexy” by Right Said Fred!
A good bossa nova gets me in the workout mode!
One song that just keeps me going is “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen. “Don’t stop me now, I’m havin’ such a good time, I’m havin’ a ball!” It’s the perfect song to run to!
Girls just wanna have fun!
Instructors for my spin classes use it, and I love peddling to it!
So What? by Pink
Totally fun song!
Thanks for the chance to win.
I love “mahi Ve” from the movie kal ho naa ho!
B.O.B. by Outkast
“lets’s go runnin'” by Blue Mountain
Hung Up by Madonna.
Time does go slowly when I exercise, but at least the beat is catchy.
no sleep tonight – the faders
So What by Pink
Since I just killed my nano by dropping it (and myself) into a large mud puddlle — the path through the reeds that appeared to lead down to the bay is apparently only meant for low tide– I may as well try for this. I like to listen to audiobooks while working out, since “working out” for me is usually just walking. But Ani Difranco also works for me, and lately, Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie.”
I like anything energetic with a good beat!
BoA – Eat You Up
Lady GaGa – Telephone
Uhm Jung Hwa – D.I.S.C.O.
Bae Seul Ki – Tiresome
2ne1 – Lollipop
Son Dam Bi + After School – Amoled
If you haven’t heard the Asian songs, I highly recommend you check them out. They might be in another language but they’re very, very good and GREAT for workouts!
Anything by Queen — especially “Don’t Stop Me Now”! :)
I like Motivation by TI to get me through the end of a hard run.
One of my favorites ever is “The Bongo Song” by Safri Duo. It’s got a great drum (bongo) beat to which you just have to move! I’m also a big fan of the eurotechno genre. ;-)
One of my favorites is a new one called “Love Like Woe” by The Ready Set.
I love that shuffle! Much better than the nano I got when my shuffle died.
I usually work out to a playlist lousy with Cobra Starship. Reigning favorite: It’s Amateur Night at the Apollo Creed!
I used to think it said “too dirty to clean my apple.”
Random, I know, but my current fave running song is “It’s Alright It’s Okay” by Ashley Tisdale. I seem to like the “angry girl” songs… good beat/tempo just makes me run faster!!!
Eels – Hey Man (Now You’re Really Living)
Harvey Danger – Flagpole Sitta
Phoenix – Lisztomania
Hellogoodbye – Touchdown Turnaround
Thanks for the chance to win.
“He Got Game” – Public Enemy. Especially useful for sled dragging and prowler pushing.
“Stronger” – Kayne West. This song can always keep me going a little longer during a run
@Beth – Apparently my spelling could stand to be a little stronger along with my physique – that would be Kanye
It’s an unimaginative choice, but Black Eyed Peas, I Gotta Feeling
My favorite workout song is Pink’s God is a D.J.
Thanks, PQ!
I generally listen to U2 when I do my walking because they’re the only band I have enough music on my iPod to last me the entire walk. I like to just put one band on shuffle and listen to them the entire time.
Stevie Wonder – Superstitious gets me in a good mood. Anything old school or pop will generally work.
Spoon’s “The Underdog” always gets me through it.
anything 80’s really. i know it dates me, but I know all the words. Oh, and that “I want to be a millionaire” song
My favorite song to work out o is rage against the machine-Killing in the Name of.Weird choice but it gets me all angry and ready to run!!Woo HOO!!! Thanks,I have always wanted one of these things
Lately I’ve been more of an “Easy Listening” exerciser… it goes a bit against my grain, but I’m learning that not stressing and not pushing myself too hard when I workout is better for me and producing better results.
So, this’ll date me, but almost anything by Harry Belafonte. I particularly like Day-O and Jump in the Line.
Also very fond of U2.
Another favorite tune is Hot Hot Hot by Buster Poindexter.
My Group Active class just switched tracks and music and we ended by stretching to k.d. lang. I loved it, specially as I’ve gotten to see her in person, 3rd row seats!
I listen to Thinkin ‘Bout Something by Hanson It makes me think of their music video and there’s a lot of dancing that the extras do. It’s fun and the music makes me want to get up and move.
I gotta tell the song that gets me pumped? It’s embarrassing! POKER FACE Lady GaGa.
Better win since I told that on myself. It wouldn’t be so bad if I were a chick.LOL
