Plus Up Your Gym Bag Giveaway with Kellogg’s FiberPlus

Disclosure: The cost of the “Plus Up” Your Gym Bag makeover for me and the upcoming winner was covered by Kellogg’s FiberPlus.

My gym bag - before

As I teased yesterday, I recently got the opportunity to “Plus Up” my gym bag from Kellogg’s FiberPlus. They gave me a coupon for a free box of FiberPlus bars and $75 in gift certificates to buy whatever else I wanted.

After putting off this makeover to the very last day and then reading Lanie’s comment that the bag “needs glitter,” I was momentarily tempted to run to Michael’s and spend $75 on a Bedazzler and glitter glue. Or I could have followed Lady Gaga’s lead and made myself a meat gym bag or meat sweat suit—made from lean cuts, of course.

Instead, I went to Target. I always end up buying stuff at Target that I didn’t know I needed. After cruising the aisles, this is what I threw in my cart:

Plus Up stuff

Yoga mat sling
I’ve always wanted a yoga mat sling. I like how cool the yoga people look with their mats slung over their shoulders like backpacks. But I could never justify spending $9.84 on a piece of string and Velcro. I told myself I should make one myself, but now I don’t have to, which allows me to cross one item off my long list of craft projects I shall never complete. (It’s listed right after “Bedazzle gym bag.”)

Earbud headphones (nice ones)
I hate earbud headphones. They feel funny. They fall out easily. They get all gross and waxy. However, I must admit that I look like the Queen of Dorkitude wearing these bulky headphones while I’m walking:

Dorky yet comfortable headphones

The ear pads absorb sweat, so they get kind gross too. Now I bought a pair of earbud headphones that are designed more like earplugs. They fit snug in my ear, don’t fall out, and don’t make me look like a dork. The covers are washable, too. I’ve always wanted to get a pair of these, but I was never going to spend $18.99 on them for fear I’d hate how they felt. Luckily they fit great!

Comfy earbud headphones

Sports watch
Finally, I got a new sports watch with lots of fancy sports functions, like memory recall, which I probably will never use but will enjoy knowing I could use if I wanted. It’s much smaller and cuter than my old watch, but again, I would never have splurged $39.99 on this when I could get my old watch at Big Lots for $5.00.

All together, that comes to $68.82. Add an additional 7.75% North Carolina sales tax and the grand total was: $74.16. Woot! Am I good, or what? I should totally be on The Price is Right. Of course, I also used my coupon to get a free box of FiberPlus bars. I went with the dark chocolate almond flavor and they were very tasty indeed. You can read about their nutritional information online.

Finally, here’s a shot of my gym bag now, all made over, though still lacking glitter:

Gym bag - after photo

Now you guys have a chance to “Plus Up” your gym bag. The official rules are available here (PDF) (I know! Official rules! So fancy!) Here’s the general gist: The contest starts now and ends at 11:59pm EST on Sunday, September 19, 2010. Only US citizens residents are eligible. (Sorry, foreigners! Give us your huddled masses, but not for giveaways.) You may enter by 1) commenting below stating why you need to “Plus Up” your gym bag or 2) sending a message on Twitter to @pastaqueen about why you need to Plus Up your gym bag and including the #plusup hashtag. I’ll announce a winner by Wednesday, September 22.

Good luck, everybody!

Cool choices. I love new fitness gear — it always makes me feel so motivated to get to the gym. It has been a while since I’ve gotten anything really new. I would probably get some cuter gym clothes since right now some of the stuff I work out in looks a little ratty.

Lindsay • September 15, 2010 at 8:32 am

Awesome job making your gym bag attractive and ready to go. Motivation does wonders. If I were to “plus up” my gym bag I would probably get new headphones too, my own yoga mat and possibly some gloves to wear…gotta protect the girly hands ya know?!

Whitney • September 15, 2010 at 8:37 am

Glitter is always a bit tempting, isn’t it?? I need to plus up my gym bag because I don’t actually own a gym bag!!

Denise Paul • September 15, 2010 at 8:47 am

I just started going to the gym about a month ago, so right now my “gym bag” is just a small tote bag that I cram full of my sneakers, socks, a sports bra, my one pair of yoga pants that fits and a t-shirt. (No shower products because I workout after work, then go home and shower.) Obviously I need to get a better bag, and I need some real workout pants to put in it. And I would love one of those things that monitors my heart rate (the kind you wear on your arm)!

Sandy • September 15, 2010 at 8:52 am

Right now my gym bag is a plastic draw string bag. I could really use that make over!! Thanks for the chance to win.

Jess @ Jessica is Getting Fit • September 15, 2010 at 9:04 am

What ear buds did you get? I need new ones as my current ones are SO gross and I have to soak them in alcohol as they get all gunked up!

My gym bag needs organization of some sort as it’s just a big jumble of randomness currently. I even have things like recipes stuck in mine from picking up sheets of paper at the gym. Weird.

Amy • September 15, 2010 at 9:19 am

Would love to Plus Up my gym bag. I just grab whatever bag is closest. So the first thing I would buy is a gym bag, then i could Plus it Up!!

Jennifer S • September 15, 2010 at 9:21 am

Love your new stuff! If I were to “plus up” my gym bag, I would first get an actual gym bag… Then I would love to get some running socks and new ear buds.

Pam • September 15, 2010 at 9:23 am

As soon as I win the “plus up” your gym bag contest, I’m gonna buy a gym bag and join a gym! Right now, all I do is walk. And walk. And walk. Ready to try something new! Thanks Jenetti Spaghetti!

Sarah • September 15, 2010 at 9:23 am

Oooh! I’d get some yoga pants and a dry fabric long sleeved shirt.

Ashley • September 15, 2010 at 9:32 am

I would totally put the money toward a new MP3 player, mine stopped working a few months ago.

Nickole • September 15, 2010 at 9:34 am

I would need to start from scratch. I am just starting on my weight loss journey, and have recently been motivated by your blog and book. I am hoping to lose about 130 lbs. in the next year – the good old fashioned way: EAT LESS and MOVE MORE. I know I can do it, but it sure would be a great motivator to have some new clothes to wear to the gym and the heart rate monitor, so I don’t have a heart attack! Thanks for all of your awesome inspiration!

svb • September 15, 2010 at 9:48 am

If I were to win a ‘plus up’ I’d spend on the ‘up’ part. I’d get a good sports bra. Currently I buy the target kind and wear two. Weird, but when you want to hit the treadmill and you are hauling around more junk on your trunk than in your trunk… well you get the picture. It isn’t a pretty picture.

Sara • September 15, 2010 at 10:00 am

My gym bag is just an Old Navy tote bag– I’d love to “plus up” by getting an actual gym bag with a zipper. I need a mat strap, too!

Melanie @ Finding Melanie • September 15, 2010 at 10:22 am

I could totally use a gym bag plus-up! I’m just a week into my weight loss journey and motivation is my best friend right now. If I had some new snazzy plussed up accessories for my bag I would be more likely to exercise! I’m super excited right now about getting fit and healthy, so a gym bag plus up would be icing on the cake!

Mar • September 15, 2010 at 10:36 am

OMG, my gym bag needs so much help. I use this ratty old tote bag, because all of the other bags I have are too big to fit in the lockers at the gym. I use a converted kids pencil case to carry my swim goggles, extra hair ties and my lock. And the worst part is, my sneakers don’t actually really fit into the bag. So, they are always sticking up and I can’t zip it, so there’s always a waft of swamp emanating from the vicinity of my gym bag. I would *so* love the chance to make it over so I can at the very least zip & unzip!!!

Sara • September 15, 2010 at 10:37 am

What a great contest! I would Plus Up my gym bag by buying a bag. Right now I’m just carrying my keys, water bottle and alligator towel.

Crystal • September 15, 2010 at 11:00 am

To Plus Up my gym bag, I would:

1. Buy a new gym bag
2. Buy a fancy BPA-free water bottle
3. Buy new running socks
4. New towel – the one I’m using is just whatever hand towel I swipe from the bathroom on the way to the gym.

Karen B • September 15, 2010 at 11:03 am

I need to pump up my gym bag because my yoga mat is the “nap mat” that my son used in Kindergarten-he is now 12. Also because I have one really good sports bra that doesn’t get as washed as much as it should-ewwww, I know!!

Shannon • September 15, 2010 at 11:08 am

This contest is awesome. It’s embarassing, but I’ll fill you in on why I could stand to Plus Up my gym bag. I purchased the cheapo black cloth recyclable Walmart bag and used it as my gym bag. The bag is small and doesn’t have a closure at the top. I was carrying my basic gym bag items in it, including a change of under clothes..if you get my drift, and lets just say the unmentionables fell out while I was digging for my access card to login at the gym. Not sure who did or did not see. I was too embarassed to look. On top of that. they weren’t even cute sexy unmentionables!!!!!!! Gah! Add to the fact that my orange tabby cat, Lola Stalker Kitty, lays on my bag in between her naps on the sofa and people watching in the window so my black cloth bag is covered in her orange hair. (I will so e-mail you a photo if you want!). So now I’m pretty sure it is sealed that I am the crazy cat hair girl with granny panties. Had I purchased a nicer bag, this would’ve never happened!

Dawn • September 15, 2010 at 11:09 am

I love it! When you open the PDF it says Pasta Queen Rules – I think we all agree ;)

I think I would have to start by buying buying a good sturdy sports bra – the one I have seems like it’s about a hundred years old. Some nice cushy running socks would be awesome too!

Linda • September 15, 2010 at 11:15 am

My bag is OK, but I need to plus up my workout clothes. Right now I am using some home-made shorts and old ratty t-shirts. I could use some better outfits!

Bat • September 15, 2010 at 11:17 am

What a fun thing to do!
If I could “Plus Up” my gym bag, I would for sure buy some new head phones. Mine are a gross mess and both of the ear phone covers have broken and have since been lost. I would also probably get some new sports bras because a girl can never have enough of those ;)

Megan • September 15, 2010 at 11:20 am

I need to Plus Up my gym bag so I’ll have some incentive to actually use it!

Nicole • September 15, 2010 at 11:43 am

If I could “plus up” my gym bag, I would need a few sports bras, comfortable underwear for working out in and a swimsuit.

Auntie Mandy • September 15, 2010 at 12:07 pm

1. Buy a gym bag (in pink so that my boys won’t claim it as their own).
2. Buy glitter, and lots of it (also in pink for the same reason as above).
3. Buy a pedometer (in, you guessed it! PINK).
4. Toilet paper – If I am having all that fiber, I want to be prepared!

Sarah • September 15, 2010 at 12:47 pm

I don’t even have a gym bag–need to start from scratch!

Jenn • September 15, 2010 at 12:52 pm

I need to plus up my gym bag because I’ve lost 36lbs and nothing fits!

Lisa • September 15, 2010 at 1:02 pm

Tweeted! @lisaeirene :)

Lisa • September 15, 2010 at 1:03 pm

I need some supplies for yoga. I want to start doing yoga to help heal a running injury.

Bridget • September 15, 2010 at 1:09 pm

I am just starting back to exercising and would love to get some workout clothes! Thanks!

Sarah • September 15, 2010 at 1:16 pm

I would definitely “plus up” my gym bag by first of all buying a whole new bag. Currently I’m using some sort of bright pink beach bag that is rather embarrassing to carry through the gym. I’d also buy my own yoga mat (using the gym mats have been deterring me from trying out yoga), and probably buy a new sports towel too.

Debbi Does Dinner Healthy • September 15, 2010 at 1:17 pm

What kind of ear plugs are those? I wear the dorky big ones too because I hate the falling out ear buds. I need a nice gym bag! Mine is random stuff thrown into a random bag! Great giveaway!

Sarah • September 15, 2010 at 1:20 pm

I need to “Plus Up” my gym bag with a new pair of spandex compression running capris because: (1) I have lost 50 pounds (!) and my old ones are way too loose and tend to fall down while I am running; and (2) since I have lost weight, I am actually a real runner now and am training for a 10 miler, so I need pants that fit!

Wifebot • September 15, 2010 at 1:21 pm

My husband and I just started early morning (5:30am GASP!) bootcamp and we need those yoga mat slings! Plus, mama could use a new pair of shoes. Just sayin’.

Sarah • September 15, 2010 at 1:24 pm

I would love to win this mostly because I don’t have a gym bag, but have recently joined a gym for the first time in my life, and will definitely need one now! This would really help get me off on the right foot.

Trini • September 15, 2010 at 1:27 pm

My gym bag would be a whole lot cooler with some new clothes in it. :-)

Cellabella • September 15, 2010 at 1:34 pm

I need to plus up my gym bag by getting a real bag instead of my old backpack and plastic bags!! The stuff looks great, thanks for the giveaway opportunity :)

Ruth • September 15, 2010 at 1:36 pm

Where to start?

Sweat bands, compression hose, socks, sports bras….

I could go on and on!

Great giveaway, PQ!

Roberta Hutcheon • September 15, 2010 at 1:52 pm

I don’t even own a gym bag I just take everything I need in a plastic bag from the grocery store, so tacky.

Dee • September 15, 2010 at 2:00 pm

I need to plus up my gym bag… so that maybe I’d be inspired to go to the gym!

Karen • September 15, 2010 at 2:09 pm

I need to “Plus Up” mine which is currently falling apart. And because “my gym bag looks stupid” is not a legitimate reason to NOT go to the gym. Despite what I’ve been telling myself.

Kathy • September 15, 2010 at 2:20 pm

I need to ‘plus up’ my gym bag becasue the one I am currently using it a giveaway one from the Army that they send you in high school to try to convince you to join up.

Jenn • September 15, 2010 at 2:25 pm

ooh I love the yoga strap!

I need to “plus up” my gym bag, because currently I am using my library book bag (it has a pig on it and says “BOOKS “2” SQUEAL “4””), because my old gym bag lost a handle, and it was bad enough that I couldn’t even sew it back together. And like the above commenter, I tried to tell myself that was not a good enough reason to skip the gym, but alas I did for a long time, and now I am feeling stupid carrying my library bag from when I was 10 (I am now 30+1.5 months). Plus, I feel like I need a good bag (to bedazzle, because I do in fact own a store brand bedazzler) (okay maybe not, but I think I will pull out the bedazzler tonight for other projects). And I have had my eye on a fancy multifunction watch that would be a nice addition to my workout, instead of the counting in my head. Basically, I love what you have done, so I may copy…

Neena • September 15, 2010 at 2:37 pm

I had a baby two months ago and I need some renewed motivation to start exercising and stop eating for two. Sounds like I need a Plus Up!

Katie J • September 15, 2010 at 2:43 pm

I need to Plus Up my gym bag because being prepared is the key to success and with the new items my bag would be comeplete! :-D

Thanks for the opportunity!

Bonnie Herrick • September 15, 2010 at 3:09 pm

I need to Plus up my gymbag and that includes getting a gym bag. I have finally made the decision to go to a gym. Sorry, puppy, I am leaving you behind. Just can’t count on getting out for long walks on those frigid winter days. To the warm gym I go.

she overflows • September 15, 2010 at 3:09 pm

I need to Plus Up my gym bag because…I don’t have one, haha. But I should!

Lanie • September 15, 2010 at 3:11 pm

Love the mat sling, but that needs glitter too. Just stop in the craft story and get a bottle of “Stickles” glitter glue and trace the peace signs.

I don’t have a gym bag, or I’d enter for sure! When you work out at home, no reason for a gym bag.

Caro • September 15, 2010 at 3:29 pm

I’ve resisted trying those headphones too but might give them a shot. I think I would Plus Up my gym bag by getting some better workout clothes (or at least another set so I could rotate them through the wash more often) and maybe a case for my MP3 player so I could more easily bring it with me.

Tris • September 15, 2010 at 3:48 pm

My ‘gym bag’ consists of stuffing my shorts, one sock, my deodorant in one shoe, and then my tank, other sock and hair brush in the other shoe, tying the laces together and carrying off one shoulder. I don’t believe my shoes smell bad, but no one thinks they smell bad, do they?

adrienne • September 15, 2010 at 3:49 pm

I have owned that very model of watch for years. It is WONDERFUL. I use it all the time for a cooking timer and for lots of other reminders. Its chronometer is really helpful as a stopwatch/lap timer.

My gym bag could use a refresher. I would love to buy at least one new pair of workout pants (the styles have changed a lot since the 90s).

Jenna Z • September 15, 2010 at 3:50 pm

I usually just tie my mat up with my yoga strap, then it’s dual purpose! I need some new running socks like nobody’s business! And my bag could also use a new travel brush, mine is GROSS!

Jaimie • September 15, 2010 at 4:05 pm

My gym bag is in a sad, sad state. It is an old maroon duffel bag with a zipper that sometimes works. When I use my bike to get to the gym, I transfer stuff into my only backpack. First step, new bag! I’d love to get a new heart rate monitor strap (the strap on mine broke and I’ve been using an ace bandage to tie it around my chest). I’d also like a new water bottle!

Panda Q • September 15, 2010 at 4:10 pm

I need to PlusUp my invisible gym bag to a visible one. A bejewelled visible one. With extra meat.

Jennie • September 15, 2010 at 4:28 pm

I would love to “Plus Up” my gym bag. I’ve gone through 3 gym bags in the past two years (tears & zippers falling off), and now I’m stuck using my backpack because I haven’t found a new gym bag that I like. I’m the type who has to pack everything but the kitchen sink when I go to the gym, so a good size bag is desperately in need!

K.B. • September 15, 2010 at 4:44 pm

I need a need to Plus Up my gym bag because everything in it is old and smelly. It would be lovely to have a few things that are new and non-smelly.

Carrie • September 15, 2010 at 4:59 pm

I really need to plus up my gym bag with a new/working heart rate monitor!

dma • September 15, 2010 at 5:17 pm

I’m not a US citizen but I am a US resident. Am I eligible to enter the contest?

PastaQueen • September 15, 2010 at 5:23 pm

@dma – Yeah, you’re eligible if you live in the US (which is what I meant to say).

And to all who asked about the earbuds, they are Sony Sweet Little Earbuds.

Sue • September 15, 2010 at 5:37 pm

I need to have a gym bag to “Plus Up” the bag. I would include earphones though since I never remember to take any to the gym.

Thanks for the details on the earbuds.

Shelley B • September 15, 2010 at 5:42 pm

I don’t even have a gym bag, so I’d need to start with that. But it’s getting a bit old, carrying everything I need when I go running (with a friend, or my awesome running club) in my hands out to the car…droppage happens, and one of these days it’s going to be my iPod and then you will not see a happy Shelley. So that’s why I need to win…I gotta get my sh*t together!

lg • September 15, 2010 at 5:44 pm

Thanks for the giveaway! My gym bag ususally just has water, and a change of clothes/shoes. I would probably get earbuds, yoga mat, a new gym bag if I won.

BridgetJones • September 15, 2010 at 6:02 pm

I am 8 months pregnant, and suffering from gestational diabetes. The doctor has ordered me to walk after every meal — try this at work, after lunch, hardy har har. The worst part is walking through our neighborhood in the dark at 6:00 am.

Oh how I could Plus Up My Gym Bag with some cat-eye lights! Reflector tape!

Then there is doing laps at the Y every single evening, without fail. I could plus up a fresh towel, or two! I could plus up a waterproof ditty bag for my swimsuit!

Thanks for everything, PastaQueen, we love you.

Jeanne • September 15, 2010 at 6:30 pm

I would buy an actual gym bag, rather than using a plastic shopping bag. I also would get better ear buds and invest in some new workout clothing…I’ve had all of my stuff forever & it looks that way!

Rose Bak • September 15, 2010 at 7:28 pm

Same old gym bag for years now, it definitely needs sprucing up. Pick me! Please! :-)

Jim Scheibel • September 15, 2010 at 7:35 pm

Sometimes soem new gear can be a catalyst for getting back in the gym and rocking it out. A new outfit, a watch or pedometer canreally spur the motivation on. Whatever the choices are I am hopeful that it continues to be motivated and rock it out..

mjnied • September 15, 2010 at 7:53 pm

after a 4 month break from USING my gymbag, updating it would be a good start in motivation. I have needed to purchase smaller workout wear so would use the $ for this.

Jen • September 15, 2010 at 8:03 pm

I need a gym back to perk up! I would also love a yoga mat.

Jamie • September 15, 2010 at 8:53 pm

I need to PLUS UP my gym bag because I’m pregnant and none of my old gym gear fits!!

sandy • September 15, 2010 at 10:15 pm

I need the plus up gym to go with my new ymca membership i got for free with my new health insurance-i guess you get those perks when you turn 65!!!

Brie @ Brie Fit • September 15, 2010 at 10:27 pm

I need a much bigger gym bag! I pack a full week’s worth of workout clothes and bring it to work on Monday to leave there–mine is definitely not big enough.

Catherine • September 15, 2010 at 10:54 pm

I need to plus up my gym bag. For starters, I don’t even have a gym bag! I just stick my stuff in an old canvas bag. This would be fun to win!

Debby • September 16, 2010 at 12:32 am

I like the “made over” gym bag better because it has food in it! ;-)

quinta da quilter • September 16, 2010 at 1:05 am

It would be so cool to have an organized gym bag of my own – currently sharing with my son.

Wehaf • September 16, 2010 at 1:28 am

I need to plus up my gym bag because the shoes it holds need to be replaced!

Laurie Ann Blatt • September 16, 2010 at 6:12 am

I like the additions to your gym bag. I could use a gym bag period! Right now, I don’t have a gym bag or a gym to attend, but I do drag my change of clothes, shoes and clean up items to work with me everyday in a nice department store donated to the cause bag. I would love to have the @pastaqueen and hashtag “#plusup” upgrade me to something I didn’t have to shove way under my desk so that no one see my plastic everywhere. Your book has really inspired us at work to do even just a short walk during lunch.

When I really don’t feel like walking in the nice record breaking heat of NC, I just talk myself into giving the PastaQueen 11 minutes! It works so far.

Stacie • September 16, 2010 at 7:29 am

First step in my “Plus Up” — a new gym bag. I’ve got this small bag that I always attempt to cram my stuff in… but it’s either sneakers or water bottle, not both.

I’d also put the money toward new sneakers — I got mine probably a year and a half ago, they have a hole in the toe — but I can’t afford a new pair right now (woe is the poor law student).

mel • September 16, 2010 at 8:10 am

perhaps if i plus up my gym bag, the guilt of having such a fabulous gym bag & not going to the gym as much as i should will inspire me to go more, and look stylish.

Kari • September 16, 2010 at 9:13 am

My workout buddy had surgery yesterday and is off the workout train for at least a little while…we had been going every day Monday through Friday and now I haven’t been in two days. :\ I need some motivation! Maybe if I PlusUp my gym bag… ;)

Nita • September 16, 2010 at 9:14 am

I have the lamest gym bag. It’s not even a gym bag – it’s a cosmetic bag and carries my exercise log, my gym pass, some exercise cards, and a towel. Nothing cool in there!

Jill • September 16, 2010 at 12:19 pm

Back in 2008, I was training for a 10k and Iron Girl. I had lost 54lbs and was on top of the world. Then, I found out I was pregnant for the 3rd time… I had to give up my dream of Iron Girl. I watched my friends complete the race without me. My gym bag became a diaper bag. I gained back all but 7lbs of my 54lb loss. I felt sorry for myself… until 3 weeks ago. I rejoined Weight Watchers, I re-committed myself to the dream of crossing an Iron Girl finish line. I am already down 15lbs and am feeling unstoppable! I have since reclaimed my gym bag, but after a 2.5 year break, it really needs some help! I could really use a chance to Plus Up my bag… Actually I might just get a new one to represent new beginnings :)

Kendra • September 16, 2010 at 12:49 pm

My gym bag needs a little more than a plus up but I would definitely get more sports bras, new earphones, and a new workout headband. The Rainbow Bright one isn’t cutting it anymore.

Samantha • September 16, 2010 at 4:32 pm

I wanna plus up my gym bag!! I sure could use some shiny new stuff for motivation! :)

Lynne • September 16, 2010 at 5:33 pm

I need a new gym bag because I just noticed a huge tear in mine! 5 years old…I guess it’s given me a good long life. Kind of. Ok, not really.

I wanna! :)

Sidney • September 16, 2010 at 5:41 pm

I need to plus up my gym bag because I am pregnant. So I am stuck wearing my husbands shirts and the same capris every time.

Kyra • September 16, 2010 at 6:20 pm

I need to plus up my gym bag because I just ran a half marathon and the stuff inside is still grungy!

Liz • September 16, 2010 at 8:55 pm

I need to plus up my gym bag because I still don’t have a *real* yoga mat…I’m the only one who doesn’t when I go to classes!

Carol • September 16, 2010 at 9:19 pm

I need to plus up my gym back because I don’t even have one. I am currently using a canvas bag. I would love to have a gym bag!

Sarah • September 16, 2010 at 10:40 pm

My gym bag is the same one I used in 4th grade. I am 26 now. It has a 10″ rip in it. I am in the middle of my weight loss journey. I have lost 75 lbs and hope to loose another 85 lbs. I decided a month ago to sign up for a half marathon. I have never ran before and so I would definitely Plus Up my gym bag by buying some sweat wicking clothes and a fancy watch too.

I need to Plus Up my gym bag because right now I’m stuffing my gym stuff in my daughter’s diaper bag when I go to the Y. It’s kind of embarrassing and not very motivating. A real gym bag would make me feel like I belong in the gym!

Jennifer • September 17, 2010 at 1:55 am

I need to plus up my gym bag so I will actually USE IT AGAIN!!!! =)

Amy M • September 17, 2010 at 3:00 am

I need to Plus Up because I don’t even have a gym bag! LOL! :)

suzanne • September 17, 2010 at 11:44 am

I don’t have a gym bag to Plus Up so I guess that is wear I need to start. I just grab everything I need and throw it in whatever bag is handy. I agree with you on the earbud thing- they always fall out. That drives me crazy.

Janet • September 17, 2010 at 12:09 pm

Great idea for a contest! My gym bag is a sorry affair (an old pink backpack) – and my gym-going supplies are lacking. I’m in need of some better gym clothes and support garments, and comfortable earbuds!

Shelli W • September 17, 2010 at 12:09 pm

Ooh, I need LOADS of help with the gym bag!! I would also head to Target and get myself some fancy new work-out duds along with a nice bag. I also need a nicer pedometer. And all MUST match of course! :)

Pamela • September 17, 2010 at 12:37 pm

I am totally with you on all of your enhancements! I lost my fitness watch in the river, and, rather than replace it, I have been walking around watchless asking people for the time. Also, your choice of earbud headphones looks excellent!

1. I love Fiber Plus stuff.
2. I haven’t loved working out in awhile
3. I’m in the process of turning over a new leaf. I’ve worked out every other day and stayed on track calorie-wise ALL WEEK
4. I’m always looking for motivators,i.e. cool new watch or headphones- yay! I just made a workout playlist for my iPhone and it changed everything. You totally want to keep going when “Party in the USA” comes on. Try it, I’m not lying.
5. I love free stuff like a fat kid loves cake. Er, like…I love cake…which is a lot.

runnin4fun • September 17, 2010 at 1:28 pm

I need this bag! I don’t have any of this-I run. But, as it becomes colder outside, I am thinking about starting some weight training at the gym. Again, I need this bag! Please!!

Lisa • September 17, 2010 at 3:38 pm

I just started a personal conditioning and weight training class and absolutely need to “plusup” my gym bag! Actually, I could use a gym bag in general, since my old college back-pack currently serves in that role!

Quix • September 17, 2010 at 3:54 pm

I might have to try some of those earbuds – I have a really weird earshape and headphones never fit me right. I found one type but they break so easy I spend 20 bucks on them every 5 months or so. :P Other than that…probably some new workout pants. I keep buying tops but always forget to get pants!!!

cindy • September 17, 2010 at 8:52 pm

I need to plus-up my gym bag to inspire me back to the gym. I took the summer off to enjoy outdoor exercise, but now I need to get back in the routine of working out at the gym. Boy, do I really need it!

Mindy • September 17, 2010 at 10:54 pm

I am in need of the Plus Up gym bag because I have lost focus at the gym. I feel if I had the proper essentials I could get back to being focused on my journey ahead..

Agatha C. • September 18, 2010 at 1:18 am

I’ve fallen off the work out wagon between working full time and taking 10 units at school….this looks like lovely motivation.

MargieK • September 18, 2010 at 10:08 am

New gear = more enthusiasm for workout out. Even when you’re not in a slump, it’s fun to have new things, so why not?

And besides, things like pedometers and earbuds break or wear out. I don’t know how many pedometers I’ve been through since I started using one (5?). It would be nice to have a spare so I’m ready for the day that will inevitably come. :)

MargieK • September 18, 2010 at 10:12 am

Doh! That should be working out, not workout out.

And no, I’m not trying to enter twice, just trying not to look like I don’t know how to write.

Kelan • September 18, 2010 at 2:35 pm

I need to plus up my gym bag by purchasing some stylish headphones as well- you just informed me that I’ve been walking around like the Queen of Dork. Thanks a lot. I’d also love to purchase a basic heart rate monitor so that I can’t slack at the gym.

Christy • September 18, 2010 at 2:57 pm

I need to plus up my gym bag with some new workout shirts. I have just been using cotton t-shirts and they are starting to get the underarm funk that doesn’t wash away. I don’t want to turn into the smelly girl at the gym.

Deanna G. • September 18, 2010 at 10:51 pm

I need to plus up my gym bag because I really haven’t changed it up much in like 5 years. I need some new goodies :)

Tracy • September 19, 2010 at 10:35 am

Love the earbuds! That is a problem I always have with mine…the falling out during a workout shenanigans. They always pick the worst time to do so, huh? If I get to Plus Up my gym bag, I will buy a new gym bag, since my current one was decidedly not purchased during the 21st century. And a yoga mat sling, as mine had to be executed for being stretched out and smelly, in the Great Smelly Yoga Matt Massacre of 2010 (also known as when I realized my yoga mat was almost as old as my gym bag).

Not sure if your mentioning “you guys” meant the male gender. If so, here I am. My tennis bag would raise eyebrows if the guys saw “bedazzling sparkles”. But I bet the site of “Fiber Plus Bars” sticking out on top would get their tastebuds working and hinting about sharing the love, now that’s a “Plus-Up”. Obviously some new balls, strings, towels, shirts, bands, or shorts would also be appreciated. Please consider my tennis bag in need of some new goodies….now there would be a topic for conversation after wining with “love”…a tennis term of course.

Donna • September 19, 2010 at 3:08 pm

I would totally plus up my workout bag with some long sleeve drywicking shirts and some running tights to get ready for fall and winter workouts.

meeyeehere • September 19, 2010 at 5:22 pm

I need to plus up my gym bag to make me efficient and and healthier.Right now my gym bag smells like a sock and does not get as much use as I would like it too

margie stroman • September 19, 2010 at 7:20 pm

Well, I would start with the bag . . . then maybe a new/better water bottle, one with the filter already built in?

Lisa • September 19, 2010 at 10:20 pm

I need to ‘Plus Up’ my gym bag, well, for one, I don’t have a gym bag. And two…I just hit my weight loss goal and really need to work on toning more and could use some new toys to help with that!!!
