Upgrade to TraineoPLUS for one year and get a Garmin Forerunner 50 Watch

Garmin Forerunner 50

Traineo.com recently contacted me about a special offer they’re running until the end of the month. I checked it out, thought it looked pretty good and decided I’d pass on the info (with the hope that I do not look like a sell-out corporate whore, or if I do I at least look like a twenty-dollar whore and not an eight-dollar one).

Traineo is a web site that offers tracking tools and community support for weight loss. I use one of their widgets in my sidebar to track my weight loss, or lately more like my weight maintenance. (At least it’s not a gain!) The TraineoPLUS service costs $59.99 a year and offers slightly more advanced tracking and daily e-mails that provide information and guidance along your weight loss journey. Here’s a video that CEO Alasdair McLean-Foreman narrates in a cute accent explaining the features:

If you’ve been thinking of signing up for TraineoPLUS, if you do so by April 30th, 2010 and enter the coupon code “PASTA” at checkout, you’ll receive a Garmin Forerunner 50 Watch after the 14-day trial period. That means you can’t be sneaky by signing up and then quitting before you pay.(Note: I make a commission off any sale with that coupon code, so here’s the part where you call me a corporate whore. WHORE!) You only get the watch, not the heart rate monitor, foot pod or ANT receiver. Without the accessories, the watch is nice little sports watch that features lap storage (100 laps or 7 hrs of data) and a lap storage interval timer. If you buy all the accessories, you’ll also have the ability to track heart rate, speed, distance, and to upload that data to your computer. My friend Erin really loves her Garmin and listed it as one of her favorite buys in 2009.

I searched for Garmin Forerunner 50 on Amazon and it looks like buying the watch and all the accessories costs $200. The foot pod is about $100, the heart rate monitor is $35, and the ANT wireless connector is $37. So, take that information and do the math to figure out whether the Traineo offer saves you money. I think it depends on what accessories you’d like to use. If you’ve been thinking of signing up for TraineoPLUS, now is certainly a good time to do it.

I would never call you a whore. Don’t be silly.

Take what you can get and pass along the good fortune, I say.

Oh hell, I’d call you a whore* if it meant that I could get lots of desirable goodies (e.g. Hugh Jackman).

*Of course, I would then immediately apologize,** since I don’t mean it and don’t want to hurt your feelings. Had a roommate in college who used to tell people “@#$% off! Nothing personal.”

**And also I would feel immensely guilty. Which the receipt of lots of garmin goodies (and/or HJ) would not be able to completely ameliorate***
