As usual with my cleaning sprees, I don’t start out with the intention to declutter my shelves or shred a year’s worth of credit card statements. I start with a simple task, like sorting all the swag I scored at FitBloggin’, and then I find myself on a roll, until I’ve filled up a trash bag with unneeded items, including a broken garden gnome I realize I’m never going to superglue back together.
One item I got at FitBloggin’ is the Weight Watchers POINTS Pedometer. It’s a pretty sweet pedometer, by far the fanciest one I’ve owned. It calculates how many POINTS you’ve earned by walking, how far you’ve traveled, and even tells you the time. Sadly, however, I’m just not a pedometer person. I know I’m never going to use this thing, so I thought I’d give it away instead, hopefully to some Weight Watchers member who will truly enjoy it.
To enter this giveaway, leave a comment on this entry telling me where your favorite place to walk is by 11:59pm on Wednesday, March 31, 2010. A winner will be drawn randomly. By the way, the pedometer came in a box, but I threw it out to make more room in my suitcase, so you’ll just be receiving the pedometer and the instruction booklet. Updated at 1:08 pm: I’ll ship internationally, so anyone can enter. Just be aware that the pedometer uses inches and pounds for measurements.
In other news, the winner of the Dr. Biali book giveaway was Cara from Florida who has already accepted her prize.
And in other, other news, I’ve been experimenting with some new ad networks in my right sidebar lately. Please let me know if you see any objectionable ads (like those annoying flat belly ads I see everywhere), and if possible send a screenshot so I can better figure out which network served the ad. Thanks!
My favorite place to walk is around my neighborhood. I get to see my neighbors and my kids can ride their bikes.
We have a walking/biking trrail that goes for miles along the wash. Right now it’s full of water from the Spring runoff so it’s quite beautiful.
My favorite place to walk is on my treadmill because I can read my Kindle while I walk which makes it much less tedious. I think I walked every inch of our town a few years ago while training for the Breast Cancer 3-Day 60 mile walk so have lost interest in walking outdoors while at home.
I’m a WW member and my favorite place to walk is at South Shore Park along lake Michigan in the fine city of Milwaukee.
(I hope I win it!)
My favorite place to walk is the new walking trail that has been installed across the street from my house. No excuses now.
My favorite place to walk is along our river in a small town called Royalton.
I’m retired so walking is my new hobby – and hopefully will help me shed a few pounds.
I love walking along a trail along the Hudson in Manhattan. Beautiful view of the water and the NJ skyline!
My fav spot is a mile away on a new trail they completed last year. Would love the ped.!!
Hey! I just joined WW so this would be a great help. I like to walk on my lunch hour on a path that meanders along the power lines (yes, I probaby will have three eyed babies, but it’s the only path near where I work).
Hey Jennette,
I’m not really entering the contest since I got one at Fitbloggin too, but I thought I would take just a minute to leave my favorite place to walk…
I park about half a mile from where I work. It forces me to get at least some exercise in during the day, and on the way back to the car after work, it gives me a nice little slice of time to just be by myself and unwind.
Talk soon!
Ben (@benjamteal)
Current favorite place to walk is the outer edge of our hayfield with Ratt, one of our many barn cats. He’s a little grey cat who for some unknown reason, has very little hair on his tail (hence the name Ratt). He’s the only one who’s brave enough to go all the way around the full 7.5 acre field with me. It’s especially cool in the morning when there’s still light mist on the edge of the woods, and the deer stand around watching us.
My absolutely favorite place to walk is along the beach in Capitola, California. Unfortunately, since I live in Texas, this doesn’t happen very often (but it will this summer – yay!). So my second place is a park near my house – it’s really pretty and there are always lots of cute dogs and kids to watch.
What a great giveaway! I use WW online and love the site, this pedometer would be great!
I live in DC, so my favorite place to walk is around the Tidal Basin. It’s about 2 miles the entire way around and is so beautiful — the monuments, the water, etc. Plus right now it’s cherry blossom season, so it’s like you’re walking under a canopy of flowers all the time.
Right now, my favorite place to walk would be ANYWHERE. I have not been able to walk since breaking my ankle 6 weeks ago, and I don’t expect to be able to even try for at least another 7 weeks. In the old days (pre-6 weeks ago), my favorite place to walk was probably on the walking path along the Hudson River. I live for the day when I can do that again; I’m shooting for sometime this summer. I wonder if that pedometer would calculate crutch hops!
I like walking in Boston Common!
The park at Sandy Hook Lighthouse is near our house that has hiking trails. We took the pups there on Saturday and it was beautiful – especially when you come up on the bluff and look out over the Atlantic Ocean.
My favorite place to walk is the 3-mile block starting at my house and ending at my house. Blocks in the country a very long. On this block are horses to see at four properties, lots and lots of flowers, fields, woods, birds, a well-manicured cemetery, and, if I walk early enough in the morning on the weekend, coffee and bacon smells eminating from several of the house along the route.
I’m a big fan of walking to the local farm stand to get fresh food. I like a practical walk more than anything. Otherwise it’s the walk to the library.
My favorite place is the Brooklyn Bridge. Beautiful views, and Grimaldi’s pizza and The Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory is waiting for me at the end!
I love to walk all around my neighborhood. It is just outside the city(Portland,Maine) so it is still peaceful. I like to look at all the houses and pick which one I would like to live in(I rent but maybe someday!!) It is the best when it is raining and I head into the woods, it smells so good!
My favorite place to walk is along the river on the fabulous walking path by my house. It is peaceful and quite and a great place to put my worries aside for a while and just reflect on the good things in life.
I love to walk in the trail behind my apartment. It has a small “river” that flows through and around it and it is surrounded by trees and it just makes the walk that much better.
I love walking over the stinky yet somehow enchanting Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn. I’m also partial to the Prospect Park loop in Brooklyn and Blackie’s Pasture in Tiburon, CA.
My favorite place to walk is on within our National Park system. I am lucky enough to live within one mile to two different National parks. The Antietam National Battlefield and the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal. Out of those two, I would have to say the canal would be my favorite. It is shaded and just very serene.
My favorite place to walk (when it’s not too hot) is along the towpath between the Savannah River and Augusta Canal in the Augusta, GA area. Beautiful this time of year!
My favorite place to walk is along the paths at Mission Bay in San Diego.
My favorite place to walk is around Radnor Lake in Nashville, TN. Beautiful!
I was just there yesterday, and I can say that I love walking at Bellingrath Gardens.
My coworker and I love to walk on and indoor track at our workplace during lunch. It’s perfect for letting off steam during the day and it gives me more energy during the afternoon. But the thing that makes it the best is the conversation!
I like to walk on the beach trail near my house:)
I love to walk anywhere I can take my dog. Right now we go to the park near my house the most often.
I would love this! I thought about buying one but they are pretty expensive at WW meetings. My favorite place to walk is on the beach…but unfortunately I don’t get to do that very often!
My favorite place to walk is New York City, which is lucky because I get to go there in two days. :)
I love to walk at one of our nearby parks called Meadowbrook park. It is a recreated prairie that has a path around and through it AND sculptures scattered along the path!
I love walking at Disney World! A perk of being in Orlando.
Love walking along the Chattahoochee River!
my favorite place to walk is on the beach…preferably early morning before it’s ppl polluted.
I love to walk in my backyard. It’s 200 acres so it’s not like I’m walking in circles. ;)
There is always something to see and nobody cares if I wear my holey sweat pants.
I enjoy walking the Monon Trail… lots of people and dog watching…
My favorite place to walk is Veteran’s Park in West Salem WI. It is a beautiful, small park. Two laps around the park is 3.6 miles and is even wonderful to walk in the winter. Unfortunately I no longer live is WI but when I think about my favorite place to walk that is the place that comes to mind. I will be in WI in May for a visit so will definately go there. Thanks for reminding me about it today with your question. Oh and the pedometer would be great, I am no longer in WW but do use their point system to track my food.
My favorite place to walk is wherever my Basset Hound Heidi takes me – her favorite place to walk is over by the bird feeders at our condos, hoping that someone’s left some people-food type scraps for her to eat. We’re fellow Naptown residents too. *8-)
Walking is the best exercise and I’ll be walking to and from school beginning next week.
My favorite place to walk is the beach at Jacob Riis Park in Rockaway, NY for the people watching…such an ecelctic and eccentric mix of characters that one would not expect to see in the same place.
My favorite place to walk is on my undergrad college campus! Not only is it gorgeous, but it has rolling hills. Since I don’t live anywhere near there now, I’m happy to go walking anywhere, but nature preserves are always fun.
My favorite place to walk is in the woods, and up mountains!
My absolute favorite place in the world to walk is the castle grounds at Blarney Castle in Ireland.
Unfortunately, I live 5,000 miles away from there, so it would be quite a trek just for a walk. So my second favorite is right in my country neighborhood because about a mile or so away, there is a pretty waterfall that I love to walk to. It’s a bit of a hike at some points, in terms of terrain, but I like to walk to that spot and listen to the sounds of the rushing water as I sit and rest for a few minutes. :-)
I live in a big city – Toronto – and my favourite place to walk is within the downtown core. I’m not exactly a nature lover, I find endless trees boring.
I’d love to win the pedometer – I’ve used WW fairly successfully for over 10 years now, with no major relapses.
(I didn’t mean to submit this twice, I don’t think it worked the first time I tried a couple of hours ago)
re: ads:
I am using google chrome and the Advertise here box is empty (not sure if it’s supposed to be) and in the text ad box the ads are in a column, all along the right side, with a column to the left of it as empty white space.
p.s. my favourite place to walk is along the Wasa Lake Trail, around Wasa Lake. I can just walk out the front door to get to it and it’s an 8km loop that takes me less than an hour and a half at the moment. The trail is paved and well maintained and fairly level, so you don’t need to be super fit to traverse it.
I was in London for a few months for work, and if I didn’t have anywhere to be in the evening, I could walk home along the Thames. It was so relaxing — so different than the rest of the city. Definitely my favorite walk, and my favorite commute, ever.
We are SO fortunate that our neighborhood in Toronto includes The Beach – a great old fashioned boardwalk along the shores of Lake Ontario, but still only moments from the heart of the city. In the sun, in the gloom, in the wind, or the drift og gently falling snow — a walk ( or run) along this path is always invigorating. As a WW member… I do it as often as I can to burn points – but also to re-centre.
Love to through my south Minneapolis neighborhood to Lake Nokomis, then up and around the western side to the northern shore, then back home along Minnehaha Creek, best time . . . Sunday mornings before 9am.
Around the track in our local dog park. The dog plays and plays and plays and the track is a quarter mile, so I get a good walk in.
My favorite place to walk is a park near my home called “Redbud Park”. As the name implies, the redbud trees are abundant there and they start blooming about this time of the year. Quite a nice place to be
My current favorite place to walk is a new trail that recently opened in my town. It goes in a loop over two bridges that cross the Susquehanna river and makes for a 4 mile walk- a perfect hour(ish)-long walk after work.
I live near DC, and I love walking through the woods near the Potomac River– on the Virginia side or the Maryland side. Thanks for doing the giveaway!
My favortie place currently to walk is downtown Des Moines (Des Moines? hell yes!) away from the bus stops where one might find the occasional homeless person snoozing. So Des Moines itself isn’t huge (200.000 or so). But mixed in with the suburbs, it jumps to around 550,000 or so in population. Not huge, but not tiny. And we do like it when people wave when they fly over :D. But I digress.
It’s pretty safe, especially around the kickass art park and library, which is good since I usually walk around during my lunch break, usually around 9ish pm. The area generally has a good vibe.
Ok. I lied; my absolute most favorite place is the West End of London, where I spent the spring break of my sophomore year of college. I walked around several hours, happily got lost several times, but still managed to get to where I needed to go. However, that was sixteen years ago, and I can’t really afford to go back.
So, a mile or so circuit of downtown Des Moines it is. But it’s still really good. :D
My favorite place to walk is around the where I work. I get there early so I walk.
We have a lovely little cut through at the end of the road that makes it feel like the countryside, and gives me a good work out walking up the giant hill, then I carry on up and go over a beautiful pedestrian suspension bridge and continue a circuit back home again, a lovely 20 minute walk to start my day with a clear head.
I love to walk on the Rails-to-Trails path near my house in Lititz PA
I would love to have that pedometer. I am a WW member and have lost 50lbs so far. Have thought of buying the ped before but am to cheap (or broke). I love to walk anywhere. I walk mostly for distance not really time. Last summer I actually got up to 13 miles.
My favorite place to walk is through the city streets late at night.
OK, totally boring, but my favorite place to walk is my neighborhood. It’s a good workout because it’s really hilly, and this time of year I especially love it because everything is starting to bloom!
I had no idea WW had a pedometer that keeps track of points earned by activity!
I’d like to win the pedometer. My favorite place to walk would probably be my treadmill at the gym. No worries about weather or insects and a tv in front of me. As a mother of 2 an opportunity to watch what I want continuously for 30 minutes is a true gift.
I like to walk in the woods behind my house.. beautiful scenery, and I get to see (and scare!) the occasional inattentive deer up close!
Because I travel so much, I have to give my favorite places in several states: In NM-the beautiful desert by my house, in WA state, Green Lake in Seattle, In MI, River Bends Park, in CA, Venice Beach. Ah, good times, happy places!
When the weather is nice I like to walk along the river. Otherwise on my treadmill in front of the tv catching up on mindless tv. Excellent giveaway – thanks.
My favorite place to walk (and run) is the UC Davis Arboretum. We’ve got an incredible oak collection. Might as well use it.
I would love to be able to walk on a nice little path in shaded area. But instead, I walk around my neighborhood and the busy streets that surround it.
My favorite place to walk is Ott Biological Perserve. It has trails that markers have faded over time, so really you’re just walking the woods, enjoying nature and occassionally ending up in someone’s back yard (or lost as was the case on fine summer afternoon). There are several paths, a lake and stream and plenty of wildlife and few people.
I enjoy walking around my neighborhood with my hubby and puppies
My favorite place to walk is down our road, to the beach that overlooks the NYC skyline. :)
New bloggers here. This is Dre one half of the Cake Sucks team.
I love to walk in Winding Hills park, the trails are awesome. I’ve had my eye on this pedometer since they started talking about it in my WW meetings. Momma C doesn’t want it, because she’s the anti-WW member or our blogging equation.
As long as I can walk outside I don’t care much where I walk! After a long Wisconsin winter the treadmill gets pretty boring FAST!
My favorite walking spot is the trail behind my house. Spring has finally arrived and I can walk there again!
My favorite place to walk is on the trails near our house… I take my two dogs every day, rain or shine. Only during the rain because they hound me relentlessly if I don’t, otherwise I’d probably slack. :>)
My favorite place to walk used to be outside my weight watchers meeting in Plainfield (on the west side of Indy). Then, I went and got preggers and was forced to leave weight watchers. Currently, I am choosing to waddle around my neighborhood until the baby comes out (hopefully next week!), then will return to the trails in Plainfield.
I like to walk in my neighborhood…there is a creek and a park that leads to an asian mall of all things and then I loop back around to my house. Would love to get this pedometer, as I am a WW member
How timely! I just vented on my facebook that I miss my favourite place to walk…
My favourite place to walk is in the Petawawa Research Forest in the Ottawa Valley in Ontario. It was an old native community that the government kicked everyone out so they can do “research”… all that is left is the streets, with no houses… eerie. But, it’s quiet, beautiful and was the perfect place to run in the summer with the overgrown trees … cool and sun off of your face…
I miss it a lot :(
@Trish – Ohh, I like that area! I’m hoping to do the Island 5k run this year… (not from Toronto but I like to visit now and again… i’m four hours up the highway from you!
I love walking the beach in San Clemente California. After the walk my friends and I stop for a bowl of clam chowder on the pier.
I love walking around the country side with my puppy, enjoying the spring sounds and smells. Just being outside and running with him is enough to get motivated.
my favorite place to walk is near the water. no matter what, i’m put at ease and the walk even seems easier.
My favourite place to walk is a trail near my home that takes you through the woods and ends up on the university campus. It’s beautiful and peaceful. I can’t wait for it to be warm, dry and light enough to walk it (my friends and I walk at 5:45 am). It would be really cool to know how far the walk is-I’m a data dork really. The pedometer would feed my need for more data!
My favorite place to walk is around my neighborhood, which is the oldest in Baton Rouge. Everyone has a pink flamingo in their yard, and Mard Gras beads hang from the trees and powerlines year round. It is an eclectic, pretty, and fun neighborhood.
This weekend, we walked downtown from our house and all around. It was great, it felt like being on vacation!
The beach!
Thanks for the chance to win :)
I love walking along the Southbank – the Thames is always so busy so it’s great people watching.
Or when I visit my mom, we walk along the beachfront.
Both are great places to RUN too!!
– CJ
I live by a beautiful lake, so I walk around it as often as possible.
My favorite place to walk is on my treadmill.
My fav place to walk is out to Dartmouth Castle, in Dartmouth on the south coast of Devon in England uk, where I live.
I’m so lucky…my favorite place to walk is at Kaitoke Regional Park, about 40 minutes outside of Wellington. Not only is it an untouched temperate rainforest full of towering trees and chiming birds, but it’s also the place where they filmed the Rivendell scenes from LOTR. My second favorite is the valley where I live outside of Wellington – I actually moved there because of the walkable streets and the hiking trails lacing the hills around the valley.
On a really nice bike path close to our house.
I live in Seattle, so my favorite place to walk is around the lake at Green Lake. Early Sunday mornings with a cup of coffee, watching the ducks and the Great Blue Herons out on the quiet lake – perfection!
My favourite place to walk is in San Francisco ’cause it’s so damn hilly.
Greenlake in Seattle, WA!
There’s a trail nearby in the hills that winds past some waterfalls. It’s gorgeous. I went there during the winter and though there was snow everywhere, the falls were still going.
My favorite place to walk is on the greenbelt.
I live in Tennessee and we have a network of greenways. Before I dumped my boyfriend (long story), we used to go walking along the greenway. Beautiful. I loved it best just after a rainstorm. It had plenty of grassy areas, little bridges to cross, and on occasion, you could see the cottontails up ahead on the path. I miss the path, but not my boyfriend. This is why I live with cats. =^..^=
Ah, just came back from a few days vacation in my favorite city for walking — New Orleans. So much to see and hear … and eat and drink…
This may sound so simple, but I love to walk in my neighborhood at dusk. I feel like I am able to talk to neighbors that I would normally not meet. Many of them are watering their lawns or working in the yard and even if it’s a simple “hello”, it makes me feel connected to those who live around me.
My new favorite place to walk is on the beach at Indiana Dunes State park. We just moved to northern Indiana and it has finally gotten warm enough to go to the beach.
My favorite place to walk is in my neighborhood – i have 3 – 7 miles loops to keep it interesting! love to walk – and lost the weight with weight watchers program.
I love to walk through the hills in my neighborhood. Nice shade and a good workout…
I love to walk at Mill Race Park in Columbus, IN. The trail goes right along the river.
1) Rocky Mountain National Park
2) San Francisco
My favorite place to walk is along the American River Parkway, though if I owned a treadmill, I’m sure my favorite place to walk would be in the comfort of my climate-controlled apartment.
My favourite place to walk is ANYWHERE. It wasn’t so long ago that walking from my car to the front door was nearly impossible, so just being able to walk and walk and walk almost feels like a miracle.
My favourite place to walk is by the Bulimba creek, near my house. It can get a bit smelly sometimes, like this morning after last night’s rain but being able to see Australian wildlife 5minutes away from home is worth it. :)
My favorite place to walk is about 60 miles from my current apartment – I moved in September, and still miss it. It’s the Sulphur Creek Reservoir in Laguna Niguel Regional Park. It has a walking trail that’s about a 1.75 mile loop and often has herons, pelicans, and other birds within viewing distance. Now I walk to school everyday up in LA.
My favorite place to walk is the lake between my sister’s house and mine. We meet every Sunday to walk the dogs and then as a treat, they get to spend some time in the dogpark right nearby.
I love to walk a path near my home that goes past a beautiful golf course. It is my favorite walk.
I walk a 5K daily in my neighborhood!
I moved to New York City, so I love walking in the big city :)
I like to walk a local 5 mile park here in my home town. It gives me a chance to clear my head, especially when I go on Sundays to prepare for my week ahead.
Around my neighborhood w my three doggies!
My favorite place to walk to is the park a few miles away from my house. It’s absolutely beautiful in spring and summer, with an artificial lagoon. And getting there really is half the fun. I’m usually really exhausted after getting back (who wouldn’t be after 10 miles or so?) but I always have fun, at least.
Geez, post the word “Giveaway” in your title and suddenly you’re Ms. Popular. Makes me think I should’ve put that on a T-shirt and worn it when I was in high school. On second thought, maybe not. Worn it somewhere, but not there.
Oh. I’m supposed to be relevant? (Since when???)
My favorite place to walk is right behind Hugh Jackman. Nice view.
Huh. I’m supposed to be relevant and realistic? Dang but you’re one fussy blogger. I’d have to say along the beach in Mendocino. (But in my mind’s eye, I’m picturing HJ right in front of me on that same beach. So there.)
My favorite place to walk is the high school parking lot, but I only walk there in the summers because it’s never empty during the school year.
My favorite place to walk is along the ocean in Bethany Beach, Delaware at sunrise. It is absolutely beautiful.
My favorite place to walk is around my neighborhood, particularly now that the weather is finally starting to feel like spring!
hey PQ !
we have a beautiful walk in ann arbor MI next to the huron river. luckily the path is only 10 minutes away by foot and we enjoy seeing a lot of birds along the river.
I love walking in the park in my hometown. It’s a relatively new place, with an awesome walking path that crosses over a huge creek. I love walking it at this time of year, not only because the weather is getting warmer, but because it’s great to watch the gradual green takeover of spring. HA! Take THAT, winter!!
My favorite walk is in the rainforest around Kilauea Crater. It’s green and damp and humid, and perfect. I wish I lived there so I could go every week.
My favorite place to walk is at a local trail with my little dog. I’d love to win this giveaway. I just restarted WW on Sunday and I am training to walk in the Race for the Cure 5K in honor of one of my girlfriends who was stricken at the young age of 35.
Right now, my favorite place to walk is the track at the high school. The track is soft and cushy and no matter when you go, there’s always someone walking too. I do something called a “walg,” which is basically walk, jog, walk jog for a mile or so. I can’t wait for warmer weather in New England because then I will drive to the nearest beach and walk there.
I love walking by the IUPUI Campus down White River Parkway. I either go through the tree area behind the Zoo or work my way down to the Canal. It’s always a beautiful walk. I just joined a Walking Club and I’m hoping to learn more routes around Indianapolis.
My favorite place to walk, by far, is in Forest Park (STL).
My favorite place to walk is away from the refridgerator! Actually, I enjoy walking around the fields while my kids practice whatever sport they are currently in: they get sports, I get credit for being there, and I get my walking in as well!
I walked all over Chicago 2 weeks ago. From Macy’s to the stores along Magnificent Mile, nearly killed me. Daughter scared she could not get back to her condo that evening. I have a bike/walk trail near me but it is too scary to walk alone. Good luck to whoever wins this thing.
I have the Pedometor and find it really annoying. I set it for steps and invaribly bump it and find it on points. Totally annoying. Well I have lost 25 lbs. with WW, so that works at least.
My favorite place to walk is a park about 10 minutes from my house. It’s huge and has a pond in the middle with ducks and paddle boats. Beautiful scenery!
Well, right now my favorite place to walk is my living room! I use the Leslie Sansone walking tapes and they are quite a work out for me.
I love walking around my college campus!! It is in southern California and we have two seasons here.. Summer and Winter and very little time of Spring and Fall in between. I would love love love this pedometer to see just how much I walk around school! And maybe bump up the miles! :]
My favorite place to walk is Johnny Carson Park, nestled between the hospital where I work and NBC Studios. The freeway is nearby, but you don’t really notice it. The small park has a semi-secluded feeling. It’s nice to get away from all the hustle and bustle, and just walk and enjoy nature.
I like to walk around my neighborhood. I also like to know how many miles I walk a day at work. I work in a restaurant, I work ten hours a day and i am on my feet the entire time. I just finished reading your book and decided to check out your site. I really enjoyed reading about your success.
My favourite place to walk is on the walking trails in our city. They go for miles and lead you across a river via an old train bridge and past many beautiful old Victorian houses. I can’t wait for better weather!
My favorite place to walk is anywhere surrounded by nature…away from the streets and cars. I love hiking in the mountains and looking at the gorgeous scenery. My husband and I hiked along Buttermilk Falls in Ithaca NY once. It was absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately, my favorite place to walk is not where I most often walk…generally I walk in my neighborhood which provides a nice loop and enough terrain changes to get in a good workout.
Oooh, yippee, an international giveaway!
I’m spoilt as I have the beautiful Peak District of northen England right on my doorstep.
If I have to narrow it down, it’d be Win Hill. A perfect conical hill right behind my house which has specatular 360 degree views and masses of different pathways up and down so you never ever get bored. It reputably was the site of a celtic battle in the mists of time between 2 tribes of the Picts and our side won, hence the name Win Hill. Lose Hill is just across the valley – losers!!
My favorite place to walk is on the canal at lunchtime. It is a nice break from the office and I can exercise, get fresh air and people watch all at the same time!
i like the old indoor gym at the university where i went to school.
I can walk and have a clean bathroom if i need it right there and ready.
I also like it because in the past when i go out side i have had some really “sweet” comments flung at me from passing cars. i guess they think i don’t know how big my butt is or that i do have a waddle going on.
I love walking at our local nature trail – it is so relaxing to walk among the different wild life while enjoying the sounds of the river!
My favorite walk is in Cape May, NJ, on the promenade which runs alongside the Atlantic Ocean.
Another fav is Washington’s Crossing in PA, along the tow path and Delaware River.
My favorite place to walk is to the great park down the street. It has a 1 mile walking/jogging/biking path that circles around it which is really nice. Now that I have a child I also really appreciate the awesome playground there.
I live in Germany and my favorite place to walk is to the bakery :P
My most favourite place that i have ever walked was through Virginia Beach…on the beach and off. We were there just before the tourist season really began, and spent 3 days walking. And walking. And walking. Up and down the beach and the boardwalk and the main strips looking in shop windows and chatting with locals. And it was awesome, and I want to go back in September to run the half marathon.
My favorite place to walk in Nomahegan Park in Cranford NJ. ITs a 2 mile loop and its very scenic thru the streets of downtown cranford built into the park. I love it!
Yeah Giveaways!
My favorite place to walk is Jones Beach, (on the south shore of Long Island, NY) – you can walk on the sand or the boardwalk, there’s always a crowd, summer or winter, and you can get a nice cup of coffee or chowder at the snackbar by the Boardwalk Restaurant year round.
Currently, I walk in my neighborhood with my dog, Angelo, and we get to kibbitz with all the neighbors. Angleo is The Prince of Peach Orchard, everyone knows him.
The technology center where I work has jogging paths that meanders through wooded areas and around duck ponds. Spring is here and the dogwoods (or some flowering tree) are blooming now, making the reflections on the water spectacular. The pond has some dock-like structures in the middle where turtles climb ontop of each other to sun. It’s kind of a fairy tale sort of place. I walk there 3 miles every day I can — sometimes even when it’s raining.
My favorite place to walk is at the college track. I make myself walk there (1 mile from home), and then walk about 2 miles before walking back home. I just started walking to beat depression. Now, I want to do the 18 mile Overnight Walk to bring awareness to mental illness.
My favorite place to walk is through my neighborhood — it is nice to see everyone. This winter I have been doing laps around my school – not as fun!!!
my favorite place to walk is the woods, and it’s better on chilly weather
i came here through your tweet, so not to add to your incredulity at the number of comments, but hey, nothing wrong with free stuff – count me in.
My favorite place to walk is Runyon Canyon in L.A.
My favorite place to walk are any of the state park trails here in Minnesota. CAn’t wait for summer!
I live in an urban area, just outside of downtown Pittsburgh. But there is a hollow, kind of like a mini gorge in the middle of my neighborhood, which is perfect for going for a walk. It separates you from the traffic and city noise and is like a wildlife refuge from the busyness. All you can hear are the trees and the birds. It’s lovely, and my favorite place for walking.
We have a lake here, Hagg Lake which has around 14 miles of hiking trails. It’s a beautiful place where we like to go in the summertime to swim, but other times of the year, walking is amazing. The scenery is so incredibly peaceful.
I like walking on the river pathway through downtown at lunch!
I like to walk at the Riverwalk here, but I usually just end up walking around the block right outside my door (or in the cemetery across the street). I’d rather not have to drive somewhere before I can walk, and sometimes the geese are mean!
My favorite place to walk is any long stretch of beach on the Oregon coast. It so clears your head.
Everyday, I just like to walk anywhere in my town if I have time. It is such a mental health break just to be outside!
my favorite place to walk is the “duck park” as we call it that is near my apartment building. It’s actually about 1 mile away but it’s a nice stroll with my son in his stroller.
besides around the buffet table (weight water humor, don’t bite!)?
i’d say around new york city, ideally with the pup in tow.
Difficult to choose just one, so I’ll say *the* beach along the pacific coast (I’ve probably been on all of them from Ensenada Mexico to the Washington/Oregon border.
Favorite place to walk – 7 flights down from my cubicle to a small patch of greenery. Accompanying me on the walk would be the hot sun of Hyderabad, India where I live :)
Love reading your posts, its interesting to see the transition from the beginning of the blog.
I’m really needing to boost my cardio. Every weekend I walk all over Tybee Island, GA….streets, beach you name it. I’d love to measure!
Around the neighborhood. Love watchin the street life.
My favorite place to walk is on the beach, but I am seldom near one so on the treadmill while reading my Kindle. I lost 43 pounds on WW 10+ years ago and am still maintaining. :-)
Ideally, on the beach, realistically, in my neighborhood.
Anything for charity! Like the march of dimes!
I am a college student and our campus has a lake in the middle of campus. I like to walk around the lake at lunch to clear my mind before returning to class.
I love walking in downtown Ann Arbor- the shops and different sights keep me distracted from all the cardio I am actually getting.
My favorite place to walk is around a lake near my house where I can people watch and pass by adorable dogs!
My favorite place to walk is at the Mercer Arboritum near my home in Houston. It’s a lovely place, sunny and shady both, water with ducks, beautiful trees and flowers. I try to go often.
I LOVE walking around McKinley Park here in Sacramento. It is exactly one mile of decomposed granite pathway so its better on the body when I occasionally throw a jog in. There is a rose garden, pond with ducks, library, tennis courts. Tons of people watching and even music occasionally when drum circles or random musicians are around. Perfect on a spring, summer, fall or winter day!
My favorite place to walk is on the beach or at the park with my best friend for company. I just joined WW online two weeks ago, so the pedometer would be perfect!
My favorite place to walk is in Dow Gardens. It’s this big, well, garden with paved trails. It’s more for leisurely walks, though. If I want to get my heart rate up then it would be just around the block in my neighborhood.
My favorite place to walk is, um, probably Borders Books, which is located a whopping quarter mile from my house, if that. The preferred route entails skirting two inches from oncoming traffic, cutting across private property, and wading through a ditch that floods every time there’s a sun shower. The routine made a lot more sense before I got my driver’s license.
My favorite place to go walking is Disneyland! True, there is lots of fattening food to walk by, but then again — I can be happy knowing I’m doing my darndest to work it all off before leaving the park.
I think walking is so much more special when you are wearing a goofy hat, and waiting in line to see Winnie the Pooh’s bad acid trip, as it has been called.
PQ you simply must come to California and try walking with us at Disneyland!
Also, don’t forget to enter me in the contest for the Pedometer : )
I like to walk on my treadmill. Sorry I’m so boring. I am a WW member and would love that pedometer!
I just started WW – on week 3 and I’m already seeing small changes with losing weight. I love gadgets and keep looking at these when I go to meetings, but can’t justify the cost just now. We just moved to NZ from snowy Scotland and the better weather is really encouraging to leave the sofa and get going!
My favorite place to walk is around the lake. They have a beautiful walking path the goes around the lake.
My favorite place to walk is around my dads property in Northern Michigan, it is so pretty and quiet up there and I love watching how much the kids and dog enjoy themselves.
Walking a path that encircles a pond, with birds to watch and a nice variety of trees that have been planted. Nothing like a spot of nature.
My favorite place to walk is the beaches of Clearwater, Florida. I am heading down this Saturday for a 2 week vacation and it would be great to have this Pedometer to track how many miles I walk the beach and to help keep me on track points wise not to over eat while on vacation.
Thanks for sharing the love PastaQueen!
My favorite place to walk is Jamaica Pond in Jamaica Plains (Boston) MA. My boyfriend and I take our two pugs there on a nice sunny weekend and get to check out the other dogs and people-watch.
I love to walk in our pasture. We have 14 acres fenced and I can walk several miles without watching mile markers…I watch nature instead. The dogs go with me it’s all different terrain…some days I pick up sticks or rocks that will damage the mower other days I count new flowers…early mornings I can count and see how many different animals are watching me watch them! I joined WW in February.
I’m pretty fond of wandering around my sister’s neighborhood–but that has more to say about the companionship than the neighborhood itself. I get to walk with my sister and my niece!
My favorite would be on the beach. Any beach.
My usual is the path that leads to my kid’s school. On a good day I walk a mile there and walk a mile home with her. Usually I have to carry the back pack and we stop at the park for a swing.
My favorite place to walk is the trails at Point Reyes National Seashore. However, since it is hours away, I instead walk my neighborhood which has gardens and birds to observe and lots of hills for extra challenge.
Well it is just not warming up in Michigan and I just moved to a new area.. so I will be exporing the new neighborhoods that surround me. And I love to walk aroud the Detroit Zoo in the summer.
My favorite place to walk is in the mountains when we are camping. The scenery is beautiful and I enjoy watching the birds and squirrels as I walk. There is an area near a place we frequently camp that has some remnants of native americans on the rocks and I enjoy walking there and thinking about how the people lived.
My favorite place to walk is in my mind while laying on the couch but, since my rear end isnt getting any smaller that way, my second favorite place to walk is in my neighborhood. I can take my cute little dog Floyd with me and we check everything out and make sure the neighborhood is safe from squirrels!
I have been coming up with all sorts of new places to walk since I started walking during my lunch hour and blogging about it. I often walk down to the National Mall and check out the latest exhibits–ah the advantages of living in the free-musuem heavy DC!
My favorite place to walk is with my beagle, Toby, to the park near our house. There’s not usually many people there so it’s a nice place to be by myself and to let the dog run around and explore. It’s up on a hill too, so it’s beautiful as well as challenging.
Lake Zorinsky, baby!
It’s either two great walks of about 5 miles or 3.5 miles–or one great big long walk of 8.5 miles.
Winds in and out of the woods, parallells the shore, gets you up close and personal with all manner of wildlife, and even lets you occasionally look into the windows of houses you’ll never be able to afford.
My favorite place to walk is located in Portland and is along the riverfront. It’s just always so beautiful and you can watch the boats go up and down the river. Kind of silly, but it’s very relaxing!
I like walking on a hilly, wooded trail that’s less than a quarter mile from my house.
My favorite place to walk is on this street called Fountain Blvd in my hometown that is lined with trees and beautiful homes, and friendly people.
My favorite place to walk by my current home is a park about .7 of a mile away, and to walk around the park is .8 miles. I like to walk around it 4 times to get 3.2 miles in. The scenery is beautiful!
My favorite place to walk is around the lake behind my daughters preschool. Thanks for the giveaway!
I can leave my house, walk down to the park, and from the park go all the way downtown on the trails. I love it.
My favorite place to walk outside is the park, I suppose. I’m primarily a treadmill-er right now, training to walk/jog a half marathon in May. :)
My favorite place to walk is to the park with my toddler so I can watch him go nuts on the playground. However, for serious exercise, I get up at 5:30am before anyone else is up and go for a walk/jog for an hour. Would love to win the pedometer to see how far I’m going each day!
Easy! Golden Gate Park!
