I just wanted everyone to know that as of this second, Officer Krupke is on the MSNBC home page.
As I have mentioned, Krupke lost a bit of weight a few years ago, but it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. It’s hard to get girls when you’re neutered.
Oh, and they also interviewed me and the awesome Jen Larsen. (Hey, publishing bigwigs! She has a book proposal! You should snatch it up!) You can read the article here.

I’ve lost weight this week even though I haven’t really been trying to (any more than I ever am). Weight loss used to be my biggest hobby, and now it’s something I do when I get around to it, like the laundry. It’s still on my mind, but sometimes the pounds pile up rather high before I can knock them off again, leading me to a life of weight maintenance instead of weight loss. My loss happened despite eating pizza two out of the last three days too. Go figure.
I’ve been trying to figure out what exactly I did so I can keep on doing it. All I can guess is that I’ve kept my self happily distracted the past week with work, TV, Internet surfing, and socializing. The socializing included pizza and cake though, so I don’t know how that figures in. I’ve felt happier and bouncier ever since the sun returned to Indiana. I’d like to present my new doorstop!
I know many of you were waiting to hear about my experiences on week three of The Beck Diet Solution, but after putting off the entry for longer than it would have taken to complete the first three weeks over again, I realized I have no desire to continue the plan. I think it has some merit, but I don’t want to spend that much time thinking about my weight, my food, and my fitness every week. Not right now, anyway.
Beck burnout seems to have occurred to other people before. It makes me wonder if there is a secret chapter in the middle featuring a wonderful surprise. I heard of a software company that offered a free $100 bill to the first person who actually read their terms of service to find the offer. Dr. Beck might give away free ponies in chapter 32! I’ll never know. If you’re looking for someplace to discuss the book, it looks like Prior Fat Girl has a discussion page set up.

So, I should be posting about week three of The Beck Diet Solution right now, only I have not finished week three of The Beck Diet Solution. I don’t even remember why or when I stopped, only that I kept meaning to read the next chapter, but I stumbled over some Superbowl guacamole and chips on my way to the bookshelf, and they fell right in my mouth! I know, crazy, eh? Blah blah blah, excuse-cakes. I had a cold, a toothache, five million freelance projects. Whatever. I think mostly my dopamine levels dropped, and my brain did not see this as a fun new thing anymore and I was less motivated to keep reading.
But, now I feel really guilty! Because people have asked me, “PastaQueen, where is you post about the third week of The Beck Diet Solution?” And I’m having flashbacks to freshman year of college, honors class, when Professor Tunberg is asking me what I thought of chapter four of The Odyssey, which I have not read, and I make some strange [...]

PastaQueen regained fifty pounds during a period of chronic pain and depression, but vowed to lose the weight one more time in 2010. She bought a copy of The Beck Diet Solution, a cognitive therapy program, and is reporting on the results each week.
