Commenting Lag

Forgive this site maintenance note, but for the past couple days the site has been taking a long time to process comments. This led to some people accidentally leaving double comments. (It’s okay! I forgive you!) I discovered the problem has to do with the Movable Type blogging software’s SpamLookup plug-in. According to this blog one of the blacklist services that catches spam has shut down, which was causing the delay. If you are a blogger who uses Movable Type and have been experiencing similar problems, follow the instructions in the post to stop using that particular blacklist service.

I’ve tested the commenting speed and it appears to be working fairly quickly now. If anyone else still experiences significant delays in commenting (like 10 seconds or more), please leave a comment here or a double comment or a triple comment :) Otherwise I’ll consider the problem fixed and I can finally get back to blogging about how fast my feet are these days and not how slow the server is.
