“Half-Assed” book blog tour 2009

Today I’m happy to announce the start of my Blog Book Tour 2009. “Wait,” you might be asking yourself. “Didn’t you already do a blog book tour back in May?” Why yes, yes I did. However, the marketing people from the publishing company shot me an email a few weeks ago asking if I’d like to do another tour since so many people are looking for inspiration now that their new year’s resolutions to lose weight are beginning to lose steam. I said that was fine as long as I didn’t have to leave my apartment. (It’s been negative degrees outside lately without the wind chill.)

So, the lovely Eva helped put everything together and you can follow the tour below. If you haven’t already bought a copy of Half-Assed: A Weight-Loss Memoir, you’ll have several chances to win one at the stops below. Thank you to all the bloggers participating!

The amazing interview with DietGirl – Part Deux

There is a girl who blogged about losing half her weight and wrote a book about it – and she’s not me! As far as I know there are only two people on the planet who fit this description, me and Shauna Reid, aka DietGirl (although she’s not a diet). I interviewed her last year when her aptly titled book The Amazing Adventures of DietGirl was released in the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. I imported a copy for myself, but only received it after the interview, leaving a fair amount of questions unasked.

Now Americans have a chance to buy Shauna’s book without paying for .01% of a tank of jet fuel because it’s recently been released in the USA. Or you can read to the end of this entry for details on how to win a copy. I checked in with Shauna to see how things have been going since she became a published author and how she went from blog to book in the first place.

Goal checking

Back in January, I set three goals for this year.

1) Promote my book as well as I can.

2) Meet new people and nourish current relationships.

3) Secret goal I’m not going to blog about.

I set three goals because I read that is the number of goals you can realistically achieve in a year. Many people fail to reach their goals because they try to do eight things at once. They want to keep their house clean and lose weight and organize their finances and become the Parcheesi world champion and get a promotion and learn to sew and volunteer more in their community and invent a cloning machine, because that final task is the only way you will ever be able to make so many changes in a year. There is only so much time, so it’s better to pick three big tasks and concentrate on those. It increases the likelihood that you will actually accomplish them. So, I typed my three goals, printed them out, and taped them above my desk so I could see [...]

Half-Assed in United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and on Kindle!

I’m happy to announce that Half-Assed: A Weight-Loss Memoir is now being distributed in the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand via Palgrave/Macmillan. If you live in any of these countries, you can go to your local bookstore and request that they order a copy for you. If you’re lucky, they might already have one in stock. Karen already wrote in to report a sighting at the Borders in Auckland. It doesn’t matter what store you go to because my distributor accepts orders from big chains and independent retailers. And yes, Britons, please request “Half-Assed” not “Half-Arsed.”

I want to apologize that I did not have this information for you guys sooner. If I’d known the book would be available internationally, I would have told my foreign readers to wait to buy it locally instead of paying to have it shipped overseas. You could have saved money on shipping and I would have saved my hand cramping up filling out bizarre custom forms. I want you to know that I’m genuinely sorry and hopefully the [...]

Today’s entry about yesterday’s Today

Thanks to the NBC tech monkeys, you can watch my appearance on The Today Show here. If you are a new reader, thanks for stopping by! You may like to read some of my best entries here and check out my product recommendations here if you’re looking for tools to start your weight loss journey.

Thank you to everyone who has left comments and sent me emails about my appearance! However, those of you who have complimented my hair and make up should redirect your accolades to Joel and Hair-Guy-Who’s-Name-I-Didn’t-Catch who made me look more fabulous than I shall ever look again.

I shall write more about my New York adventure soon, and, oh yeah, get back to blogging about health and fitness too. Just as soon as I take a long, long, nap.

Jennette Fulda tells stories to the Internet about her life as a smartass, writer, weight-loss inspiration, chronic headache sufferer, and overall nice person (who is silently judging you). She does this at JenFul now, but you can still have fun perusing her past here.
