For people uncomfortable with big government, Michelle Obama's campaign against childhood obesity is more palatable than one aimed at adult obesity. Apparently the "nanny state" is grudgingly accepted when only children are targeted. Sad but true. The good news is that some children will grow up to be healthy adults who wouldn't otherwise.

Great interview! I'm so glad Kim Brittingham explains why recent "campaigns" intended to lower rates of obesity in children are harmful and result in increased weight bias. By medicalizing obesity (constructing weight as a health issue for individuals to manage), rather than focusing on the social determinants of health risks (determining what social conditions are required, first, to reduce health risks in populations) these campaigns increase fat bias and discrimination, which results in even higher levels of stress (and increased health risks) for many of the same people these programs claim they want to help.

One point of your post stood out to me in 6 foot letters. I was going to try the South Beach Diet since I did well with Atkins, but I thought there would be some helpful meal planning here.

This was an on-line membership with a 3 month trial.
When I tried to cancel at 3 months and 2 days, I was informed that I had to pay for the rest of the year. the price was so low because it was a year contract. What a scam,

I discovered Kim Brittingham some time ago and she's fantastic. I'm really pleased that you posted this interview.

Just one problem: All those dieters out there will freak out. Kim's fat. And not apologetic about it. And she truly knows and accepts herself just the way she is. Which is why I love her, BTW!

I'd never heard of her before now but I loved the interview and video and will definitely check out the book.

And in another note. How did you learn to tame your frizzy unmanageable hair? I still can't seem to tame mine.
