I really meant for there to be a few more entries posted between this one and the last giveaway so my blog wouldn’t start to resemble The Price is Right. But, uh, my head hurts and I had a lot of work to do, so I didn’t make it happen. If I start making y’all wear name tags and start saying “Come on down!” I give you permission to smack me.
This is the final Commit to Fit giveaway sponsored by Subway, and the one I kept putting off because it meant I’d have to make an actual commitment to fitness. Here’s the official blurb-age:
Have you decided what fitness commitment you’re going to make? Think about what your Commit to Fit Challenge is. It can be anything from running your first 5K to trying out a new class like tai chi or zumba. Let us know what it is and we’ll provide you with the funds (up to $100) to help you meet your challenge!
After reading all your suggestions on this post, I decided to just go with the obvious and try zumba. I enjoyed the TurboKick class I took a few years ago, so hopefully zumba will have the same fun atmosphere. I searched for a class on the official zumba page and found one locally. So, I’ll commit to doing that for 8 weeks and see how it goes. At the least, it’s an opportunity for me to get out of my apartment and be around other human beings, and not hibernate in front of my computer doing freelance work. Particularly now that it’s getting cooler, signing up for an indoor exercise class will hopefully keep me exercising through the winter.
If you’d like to enter for a chance to win up to $100 to put toward your own fitness goal, leave a comment on this entry with your favorite word that contains the letter “z.” (I already made you state your fitness challenges on this post, so I didn’t want to repeat.) You must be a US resident to enter. The contest ends at 11:59pm on Sunday, November 28, 2010. Winner will be drawn randomly.
BTW, the winner of the Laila Ali giveaway was Madeline from Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. Congrats, Madeline! Please don’t punch me with your prize.
Disclosure: All prizes listed in this post were provided for free.

Well, since I’m training for a half marathon my running shoes are getting a little worn. I’d take the $100 and buy a spiffy new pair.

I didn’t comment my commit to fit challenge in the other post, but my commitment is to do a full marathon. I’ll be looking at a training schedule and then commit to it by signing up for one. The $100 could help with the registration fee or some running shoes.

I love the word “Huzzah!” Plus it just sounds like something ridiculous I’d say.
My fitness goal is to do a bike race this year. I’m also going to try the new WW program as I still have about 15 lbs to lose (again). Plus it’s a BIG birthday year (well, it’s a 5 year, not a zero year) so I figured I’d better get serious.

zapata.
I hope it was okay to use a Spanish word with Z. If I remember my high school Spanish, zapata is shoe. For some reason, I always thought that was a cool way to say shoe.

Hope you enjoy your class PQ! Zumba is like many things in life, you may have to try a few before you find one that you like. Some classes can be really lame with rather uninspiring instructors, but when you find one that is energetic and a groovy dancer, it can be fun fun fun. Happy thanksgiving :)

Dateline – Thanksgiving Day – Read Pasta Queen for a wee bit of inspiration before the big meal. A postprandial walk is on the agenda. My favorite word today is Zeno – my grandfather’s name. Very thankful for all of the good thoughts shared on Pasta Queen.
If I win the $100 I will buy new walking shoes. I need them as I have done 1 half-marathon, 2 10Ks and 12 5ks this year – all good for my mind and body.

In 2005 I lost 65 lbs and was looking/feeling great. In 2008 I lost my job and life spiraled out of control. Needless to say the weight all came back PLUS :( I’m hoping that the economy picks back up and I can be gainfully employed soon again. Before I can interview I want to look/feel good and have the confidence that matches my fabulous skills. What I would do with the winnings is join WW … they helped me before and I know they can again.

Zumba was a blast. I stop going because it got repetitive. I don’t think the instructor knew but a few moves and would change it up a little here and there, but it was too little for my taste. But, the workout was fun and the time flew. I didn’t realize I was exhausted until it was over. Best of luck to you!

Zephyr- because it reminds me a of a GREAT red hot chili peppers song, and a REALLY embarrassing , but funny night. (If I win, I might be persuaded to share it with you) But I just googled what Zephyr is and found that it is fitting for my current fitness goal, or pursuit.
Zephyr was the gentle wind of the west in greek mythology, that it would be awesome if I was strong enough to gently blow something over. :) But since I started taking yoga classes I think that it is a fitting word for the form of exercise I’ve just started. Keep smiling!

Piazza–preferably a piazza with a church whose bell tower I can climb. I was too overweight and out of shape to climb anything on previous trips to Europe, but am counting on climbing at least a couple towers when I’m there for Christmas this year. I’m so excited to be getting a chance to go back and to do all the things I couldn’t do before.
