A few people (well, two to be exact) have contacted me recently to complain about ads that have been appearing in my sidebar. One was a political ad and another looked like a phishing ad or something similar. I don’t want those kind of ads appearing on my site. I have the power to block specific ads if I know they’re out there, so don’t hesitate to report a questionable ad here. If two people have emailed me, I figure there must be more of you out there who noticed but didn’t say anything.
If this continues to be a problem, I will probably drop the offending ad network, but I need your help reporting these ads so I can figure out which network they’re on. Ad networks are designed so they can target ads only to people in certain geographic locations, so I will never see some of the ads you see. (Unless you’re my next-door neighbor, and if you are could you please not play the bagpipes after 8:00pm? So totally not joking.)
I don’t mind making some money off of this site with ads, but I don’t want to do so at the cost of my reputation. I want my blog to be a pleasant place for you to visit and not the home of yet another political attack ad or acai berry scam. Thanks for you help and understanding!

I’m the kind of person advertisers hate, I never even notice the ads. :)

I guess all Rebecca’s think alike, I don’t notice ads unless they have pictures of bacon in them.

Wow – your neighbor plays the bagpipes, complete with drone. There is such a thing as a practice chanter (although that would be annoying enough).

Another person who doesn’t “se” ads— it’s amazing these fellows ever sell anything!

To me, all ads are equally annoying. But, since you need them to pay the bills, they fall into the category of a Necessary Weevil. The only thing that drives me away from a website is when the ads hover over the text when I’m trying to read it.

Maybe you posted this JUST to get us to look at the ads? Hmmmm… Could be some kind of marketing ploy.
Just kidding. BUT, you have to admit, people WILL be looking at the ads more this week. :-)

I don’t care about the ads either. The site is very well cleaned up and some sites have hideous ads everywhere so I think yours is pretty decent enough to deal with :)

I never noticed them either (unless it was a text rollover pop-up or UGH a floating one), but a couple months back I was checking out Firefox’s add-ons and saw one of the most popular was this one called “AdBlockPlus” I decided to install it and holy cow, it totally obliterates all ads. I’m sure it is the bane of many advertising agencies. Recommend to anyone bothered by em.

I’ve had some weird ads on the blogs I write occasionally. I live with them though as, I’m guessing, most readers don’t even notice them. Some though are so close to porn it’s not even funny. Heaven knows how some of them get away with it – those I draw the line at and request my ad companies to remove them :)

@Rebecca Hoover – The flashing ones are the most annoying ones. I can ignore the others but I’ll look since I went to a certain site-like this one.
