Kirsten - A credit card can be a dangerous weapon. I need at least one so I can buy things online, but I think it's good of you to stay away from them if you think you'd miss a payment. The interest just compounds upon itself, costing you a lot.

I'll go check out Diet Girl. I've been reading a lot of diet blogs the last two weeks and seriously need to update the blog roll. There's so much good stuff out there!

I should probably shut up about "200-pound whiners" myself. I think I have a distorted perspective being 5'9". If I were 200 pounds, I'd only be about 40 pounds overweight. However, if I were 5'2" that would be closer to 80 or 70 pounds overweight - huge difference.

Totally true. Trimming debt is as painstaking as trimming my waistline and I have a bit of both. I have to say the the debt milestones are more predictable, which make is better.

PS. I found you from Hopeful Loser and I really like your twirly pics.

I really like your debt analogy - and am impressed that you've managed to overcome all that financial bad luck. (I am scared of credit cards and have never had one for fear I would forget to make a payment and rack up a huge debt without noticing. If only I'd had the same attitude to exercise etc. I'd be... dunno. Thinner than I am now.)

I'm new here and have just read all your archives. You write really well and I wish my nasty off-the-peg site looked as good as this (your progress pics are so funky).

Given what you've said about being tired of 200-pound whiners - do you know www.dietgirl.org? Definitely not a whiner, and a brilliant, funny writer. And although she'll kill me for saying this, her story is really inspiring.

And OK, yes, I am under 200 pounds, but I try not to whine...
