Yay, I lost 4 pounds this week! Good thing too. I’d probably curl up in the fetal position if I’d gained weight a second week in a row.
I think from here on out my weight loss is going to be slower, with only 2 or 3 pounds lost a week. My basal metabolic rate (the amount of calories I burn in a day just sitting around) has dropped about 250 calories since I dropped 60 pounds. Since I’m not burning as many calories, I’m not going to be losing quite as much weight.
In response, I need to make sure I keep pushing myself in my workouts. I’d noticed in the past week or so I just wasn’t sweating like I used to during my walk. I have to remember to keep taking it up a notch so that I’m always a bit tired after exercising. It’s not that much fun pushing myself when I’d like to stop. But I know I can do more, so I do. It’s certainly a form of pain, but I suppose it builds character making yourself do something you don’t want to.

Can you email me and tell me how to test my basal metabolic rate? I have a thyroid issue and have been gaining weight for the last 10 years in spite of lots of exercise, and always wanted to know what my metabolic rate was. Thank you. You are inspiring!
