Man, I miss fast food. Actually, I don’t miss the food at all. I’m fine without Big Macs and cheesburgers. I just miss the “fast” part of the equation. Does there exist a fast food restaurant that serves yummy but healthy food? I know most places have a token salad on their menu these days, but they don’t look that good. I was into Chick-Fil-A for awhile, but now I’m really sick of their salads, which weren’t that great to begin with.
So every night I have to ask myself, “What am I going to have for dinner?” My mother and brother are out and about so much at school and work and social commitments that I can’t depend on them to make something and take the decision out of my hands. They both work retail, so their schedules are flighty. Previously if I didn’t want to cook, I’d just get something from McDonalds or Arbys or Taco Bell. Now, that’s not an option. I always knew in theory how bad those places were for me, but now that I know in precise detail the calorie and carbohydrate nightmares a Big Mac contains, I can’t claim ignorance. Oh sweet ignorance, how I miss you!
It’s truly amazing how much mental effort and time it takes to eat well and to exercise. I haven’t worked much on any personal projects lately at least in part because of all the time I spend trying to make good food choices and going walking.

Hey there! I just started reading, from the beginning and have to share my favorite “fast” food! Noodles and Co. The Med Salad. Spring greens, cucumbers, a couple noodles, tomatoes, red onion, feta cheese and a FANTASTIC spicey greek yogurt dressing. The large is only 320 calories and it’s HUGE! I seriously crave this salad more than I ever craved double cheeseburgers.

I used to believe a taco “salad” from Taco Bell was actually relatively good for me. Oh, ignorance.
