Wow, this has been the most successful week yet. I lost 10 pounds in the last 7 days. If I weren’t on a specific diet I would actually be afraid for my health. The South Beach Diet book says people generally lose 8-13 pounds the first two weeks, so for a morbidly obese person like myself I think 16 pounds in two weeks is within bounds.
I’ve lost 20 pounds so far but I honestly can’t tell. When you are so incredibly overweight, 20 pounds is a small percentage of my total weight. It’s easy to see now why I never noticed if I was gaining or losing weight. 20 pounds could sneak on or off and I wouldn’t know. I think I will have to lose 50 pounds before I notice a difference or my clothes start to become looser. All my pants have elastic waist too, so it will be more about bagginess than droopy drawers.
I am also feeling more fit. I can go 1.25 miles on the treadmill now. When I first started I only went 0.5 miles. My knees do not hurt much at all when I go down the stairwell. I’m not sure if this is because I’m 20 pounds lighter or because my muscles have grown stronger from all the walking.
Tomorrow I get to go on Phase II! Yay! I have been planning to eat an apple for the past two days. So sad. I may even sprinkle some cinnamon on it :) No sugar though!
I am feeling really good about myself. I know that this time I am actually going to go all the way and lose the weight. I’ve started thinking about things I’ll do when I’m skinny, not “if” I were skinny.
